Failed Hog Coach's QB Son On The Market
Elite 11 quarterback and son of Chad Morris, Chandler Morris is now officially off the list of Arkansas's 2020 commits after the removal of the head coach on Saturday. A two-time state champion for Highland Park, Morris has 11 other Division-I offers and he's been lighting it up this season with 2,818 passing yards, 33 touchdowns, 13 interceptions and a completion rating of 70.6. He's also added 447 yards rushing with 15 more TDs to lead HP to a 9-1 record.
He's a scrawny fella, apparently, but Clemson and Auburn were allegedly sniffing around him, so maybe he's worth Harbaugh picking up the Hog scraps. . .

Listed at 5'11" so let's assume he's 5'9". Will be interesting to see if he gets real looks from a couple of schools down south. Based on his offer list seems like maybe he's not interested in the North all that much

That size QB fits better at schools that utilize the QB as a runner and are up tempo teams. Cool that he's on the market, but not a fit at UM sounds like.

You're assuming the offensive style we are seeing this year will be the same long-term. We might see more QB running and up tempo as the offense continues to evolve the next couple of years under Gattis.

I don't use the /s either.

He measured 5’10 at the opening Dallas regional

People always acting like 5-10 QBs will be the next Kyler Murray. Chances are, he's not and he'll suck
November 13th, 2019 at 9:49 AM ^
Seems like a kid destined to stay in the southern part of the country plus I don't see Harbaugh looking into a QB who's listed at 5-11 (so probably at least an inch shorter) unless Michigan starts getting really desperate for a 2020 QB (which I don't think they are...yet).

To clarify, Chandler Morris is from Highland Park, Texas.
His father, Chad Morris, was coaching at Arkansas before being fired today.

Morris had two flags in his yard while the coach of the hogs. A Razorback flag and an aggie flag. I’m sure the latter flag remains. This family is an Aggie family. Dollars to donuts, he plays in college Station

Possibly, but A&M has Haynes King committed, so it's not clear that there's interest from either side. May come down to numbers.

JD was somewhat of a lottery ticket, so this seems like a viable replacement. Obviously no idea if there's mutual interest, but would be happy with it.

He’ll be at USC with Urban and his dad
November 13th, 2019 at 10:19 AM ^
There’s no way. This kid is 5’11” with cleats and a helmet on. If Harbaugh wants a QB from Texas, Harbaugh needs to offer a sophomore QB from Southlake Carroll High School.
November 13th, 2019 at 11:41 AM ^
That won’t help the 2020 class. The point of the OPs post was Michigan has a hole in this class now that JD has retired from football

Per Magnus' Touch The Banner, they have already offered Quinn Ewers the 2022 QB from there.

They owe us a QB, but with Mr Morris' size, they'd have to throw in a slot receiver or a return guy to square that trade.

I held this headline up to the mirror without a clue.
Sending out for remote DNA advice to a staffer I know at NCIS.

can we not have dumb thread titles?
November 13th, 2019 at 12:26 PM ^
As a blog community, we are still in the early stages of trying to teach people to include appropriate information in thread titles. Until that is done consistently, I will accept threads with titles such as this

I read this as some sort of sale on fat back, or maybe a whole hog?

the pork market is strong in china, due to swine flu......
hate to think someone came here hoping to market his pork.

You honestly think a title such as "Son of a QB failed at coaching the hog market" doesn't clearly explain that a young quarterback may be transferring to a new school?
November 13th, 2019 at 11:11 AM ^
It's a click bate 'wannabe' title. We... as Michigan fans like to try to be so incredibly clever, our cleverness usurps content yo!

November 13th, 2019 at 10:50 AM ^
Confusing headline. But alright. I think I get it now. Don't know who Chad Morris is. Doubt he'll come here.
November 13th, 2019 at 11:11 AM ^
Why do we complicate things so? Perhaps something like...
Chandler Morris (2020 QB) decommits from Arkansas
November 13th, 2019 at 11:20 AM ^
He's from the same high school that gave us, in the same graduating class, Matthew Stafford and Clayton Kershaw.
November 13th, 2019 at 11:34 AM ^
Geez, Chad Morris must have saved NONE of his salary to have to sell his kid this quick after losing his job?
November 13th, 2019 at 11:37 AM ^
The title can't be that confusing. I understood it.
November 13th, 2019 at 11:56 AM ^
This one didn't require a decoder ring, but concise and informative titles make for a better user experience (that's us!).

November 13th, 2019 at 11:58 AM ^
He has a 70% completion percentage but also has only a ~2:1 TD:INT ratio. That's interesting
November 13th, 2019 at 12:48 PM ^
70% includes when he completes it to the other team
November 13th, 2019 at 4:09 PM ^
what an awful headline OP
