ESPN Trash "Analyzing Jim Harbaugh"

Submitted by bluecervelo on

Did anyone else catch that SC segment called "Analyzing Jim Harbaugh"? Basically said that Jim's selfishness and abrasive personality are what caused the 9ers to fail. They said that while Jim preached "the team," he acted selfishly by refusing to sign a long term contract, and demanding personnel and facility upgrades. I'm not sure why I'm surprised at this point, but dang it felt really one-sided and vindictive.

I missed that, but at halftime of the Liberty Bowl, they ran a graphic called Malaise and Blue, and compared bowl games played in and losing seasons from 1969-2007 and the same numbers from 2008-2014. They noted that Michigan had three losing seasons from 2008-2014 and three losing seasons from 1969-2007.

What's wrong with this picture?

What do you expect from the world wide leader in bull shit? ESPN knows that by trolling huge fan bases and brand names they can generate a lot of clicks and viewers. You knew with all the UM haters that said we had no shot, that espn would spin the story to reflect poorly on Jim instead of the NFL. This is the first time a wildly successful nfl coach, wanted by several nfl organizations has chosen to coach in college. Anything that could damage the perception of the shield will be spun and twisted to protect all the nfl slappys.

This was clearly a slam job to put all the blame on Harbaugh. I did find it amusing that they blamed him for the player discord alluding to the players not liking him but the next segment was the player reaction with all the players giving him the credit for their success.

par for the course. Earlier today Cris Carter was praising Baalke as the best GM in the NFL and saying any coach can come in and win with what Harbuagh was given.

Just let it roll off. We all know what Harbaugh can do here, and when he does, we will bathe in schadenfreude.

Wait for next fall when ESPN will blast every single thing UM/JH does.  If we don't score 100 points before half-time the ticker will read "Melt Down in Ann Arbor?"

The only way to stop all of this constant BS is to bring home the hardware and shove it in their face.

And I am 1000% confident we have the people who can get that done.

Batten down the hatches.  This is still just the beginning of the stupid venom coming our way until we get it done on the field.

Didn't see that, but they have been showing the graphic where Harbaugh improved the win percentage (drastically) for San Diego, Stanford, and SF. And a lot of their commenters on Sirius during the day have been very pro-Harbaugh

I watched the 49ers on webstream yesterday.  On a cut to commercial they showed a beautiful shot of a sunny Golden Gate Bridge and bay.  The voice over was, "If you believe the rumors Harbaugh is leaving this for the cold of Ann Arbor shortly after today's game"

I bet a lot of NFL jock sniffers are going to be in shock for a few days.  Then we'll here more sliming of Harbaugh.

Wow.. Just saw this on ESPN. It's so one-sided and ridiculous with a lot of their information. What a way to slam coach Harbaugh just because he left the NFL.. I hope ESPN and all of the other NFL homers continue to eat shit.. Because the Suckeyes and Sparty are already crying. Go Blue!!

On First Take today, both Bayless and Stephen A were praising JH. Bayless said something like it was a wonderful hire, and he was happy for Michigan. They both went on to crush York and Balke. I'm sure after the show, they were reprimanded for not following Company doctrine.

Yeah, they are singing a differnt tune now, when a couple of days ago they were saying Harbaugh to Michigan could never happen.  I always enjoy it when those guys get it wrong, so I am often a happy man.

They are entertaining beyond their blunders, I will give them that.  They bring some fire to the often-dull talking head circuit.

about us.  The results on the field and in the class room are all that matter.

Harbaugh to Michigan shook the map of reality for many and now they need to somehow rationalize it.

Isn't it beautiful?  :)

Hail.

I think it is important to remember that the answer to a lot of questions at ESPN is, "Yes, Mr. Goodell" or "Right away, Mr. Goodell.", or at least it seems this way to me. It has never been more clear to me, in fact, than in these past for weeks. The sad thing about it is I remember this network that dared to cover sailing, bowling, some offbeat football that would otherwise never make it to TV back in the day...and it was a cool idea that could really have been something. This is what it has become.
