ESPN Gameday Show thread

ESPN bailed on their plans to go to Texas A&M after their loss last week and are at App State today.  The students are off the hook, the announcers are having a lot of fun with it.  In a time when many are complaining about the “loss of innocence” of the sport, this is truly  harnessing the joy of college football

They are also teasing a human interest story about Erick All who was apparently rescued from a house fire as a child.  He will be reunited with his rescuer.

Is anyone else watching CFB on UCONN week?

Only a couple passing mentions of MI. Celebrating the pure college joy of the App State culture so far. The band has been standing in formation for over an hour.  Students are standing in trees. It is just pure joy.

I almost find it cathartic and cleansing. We aren’t that 〽️ anymore.  a brief pause from the SEC slappy of ESPN too.

If MSU is our little brother. Maybe we can see App State as a first cousin from the back woods mountains living a simple life?!?  Maybe I’m still drunk from last night..

I did +1 you for "they'll never let us forget", but our fucks should be channeled at whoever scheduled that game (I forget, now) and then also at the various media outlets who keep trotting the story out whenever there's a big upset.

Talk about a game with zero upside. Michigan, super-conservative and seeming to enjoy keeping games close and playing not to lose, schedules a lesser division powerhouse with nothing to lose and everything to play for. And they had an amazing QB to boot....a perfect storm in the making there.

So I'm nearing the end of a 12 hour shift. I'm wondering should I stay up and watch Michigan or say fuck it and go to bed?

I guess I'll watch because I only work 8 tonight and then have a 4 day weekend.

That’s exactly what I told myself as my friends begged me to record it and we went to play paintball the day UM played App St.

When I got in my truck and turned it on, to head home and watch the game, the first thing I heard was…”THEY’VE DONE IT!  APP ST HAS BEATEN MICHIGAN AT THE BIG HOUSE !!”

I then went home and watched the entire thing, in horror.

I’m not watching gameday, I haven’t in a long time, but if they’re making a bunch of mentions about The Horror, go ahead and let them.

That was 15 years ago. The teams have changed so many times over that they’re not even remotely the same anymore. It’s ancient history that is not at all relevant to this Michigan team.

The same people who give Michigan crap about the Appalachian State are the same people who have repeatedly made fun of Michigan for living in the past. And that is deliciously ironic to me.

Goddamit Gene.

2.5 years ago I'd see that story and think "oh neat, good in the FD, glad they got to Erick in time"

And now that type of story just messes me up with a cherished little one in the house.
