#EATING - Yahoo! Article Highlighting the Recipient on the "Clowney Hit"
Yahoo! has an article about Vincent Smith's (and friends) Hope for Pahokee project. The writing is lacking a lot of information on the actual project and mostly focuses on "the Hit that changed the world."
The name of his project isn't even mentioned in this article!
I guess Yahoo! at least tried to spread the word, right?
Obligatory:

believe he fumbled on that play. It wasn't like he had no time to react or anything.....

And Sam and Ira ask him a wide range of questions about current sports topics. EA comes across as very well informed and articulate. I enjoy listening to him each week.

Came across as a pretty stupid article to me. As if the hit was so devistating that it caused him to completely reevaluate his life and decide to do a project like this...
Whatever it takes to raise awareness for the project, I guess.

I didn't get that at all from the article.
It was a nice article - no, it wasn't perfect (should have included the name of the charity), but the charity and Smith's character were certainly the focus. The hit was just the hook that was used to get the casual reader to click on the article, which is a good thing -- I'm sure Vince has no qualms with using the hit if it gets more publicity for Hope for Pahokee.

It was one hit. Granted, it was impressive, but it wasn't even a big game.
I'm not even bothered because I like Michigan. I'm bothered because it's like your little sister's friend who comes over to your house and won't shut up while you're trying to watch TV.

don't consider a high quality bowl game against a top teir SEC team to be a big game? What does it take to be a big game then? I think there can be big games without either team being "crowned" with something at the end of it.
That is the new perception of college football. It cannot be considered a "big game" unless it is being played by two of the top four teams in the country. The players sure seemed to think it was a big game.
I can't see college football season being very enjoyable with that mind set. Stop listening to Mike Valenti. That was a big game (and so was the 2011 Sugar Bowl).

Sorry, dude, but the Outback Bowl? After a 4-loss season? Sure, it was a fun game to watch, but let's not kid ourselves and think it was a "big game".
Oh, and as far as bowl games go, a BCS bowl game is a "big game".

that Florda State v. Northern Illinois in the Orange Bowl was a big game. I do think that Michigan v. Michigan State next week is a big game. Do you not? Your criteria is a mess.

I said "as far as bowl games go..." So, yes, I think the MSU game is a "big game."

I can't. This life is a hard one.

I'm with you. To me, the teams and players in the game make it "big", not the name of the bowl which many people won't even remember anyway.
October 24th, 2013 at 3:35 PM ^
The names will change them in a couple of years anyway.

this doesn't devolve into another "What is the definition of a 'Road Game?'"

...is not a big game. Bowl game against USC (yes, THAT USC) IS a big game because usually that's in the Rose Bowl.

I think it was a big game, but it was a missed block. Clowney came at him clear. Not Smith's fault.

Taylor handled Clowney all game but all anyone remembers is Clowney's hit on which he was completely unblocked

It's inspiring to see someone give back to their community, to truly commit to it, in a unique fashion. Keep at it, Vincent, and Go Blue!

I was never a fan of them, except for the Bama game when they finally got the font & text color to match the rest of the jersey/helmet.

this quote. "Football wasn't just a way out; it was a way back."
This man needs to teach a class to college athletes about using your oppurtunity for more than just a life of sports. I could see him helping a lot of kids.

This comment had be dying! Thanks for repping the university so well Mr. Smith!

I gotts say, the Outback uni's looked pretty sweet. Change the numbers to blue on yellow instead of yellow on blue so that you can actually read them, and you have a look that could be the permanent road uni.
