Early Week Score Predictions

Hi Everyone, Curious on your score prediction as we sit here on a Tuesday with no news to discuss. I will say Michigan 35-24. Huge game from JJ on the ground.

27-17, Michigan.

Michigan has a better offense than ND & Penn State. Michigan also has a better defense than either ND & PSU and they held the bucs to a lower scoring game. Plus it's a home game for the good guys.

TDs for Blake, Donovan & Roman Wilson.

The Michigan defense is capable of holding OSU to under 20 points and as long as they do that, Michigan will win.

Michigan 34 -- OSU 20.  The Wolverines offense will be energized by being at home, with JJ opening up the run game, and with play action passing (plus whatever else we've been holding back).  OSU's mediocre offense will be bad but with flashes of brillance.  Once again, Michigan's red zone defense will show up.  OSU will have a small halftime lead / Michigan will pull ahead in the 3d / Michigan will go conservative in the 4th to run out the clock.

I'm saying 22-0. A throwback to the '76 game with the Corum - Edwards duo playing the roles of Harlan Huckleby and Rob Lytle. And a suffocating D.

While this OSU offense is not as potent as the ones from the past two years, if Michigan is able to put on a shutout, then that is a defensive performance for the ages.

Either that, or its because Kyle McCord gets injured on the first series, and with Devin Brown already done for the year, OSU's third string QB just proves to not be up to snuff.

I'm not holding my breath on seeing any kind of shutout. Hell, if Michigan holds this OSU offense to under 20, I'll still be really impressed.

The more I think about it the more optimistic I am. Especially after reading that SI article about how Harbaugh turned around the rivalry.  2018 and 2019 rocked me so hard as a Michigan fan that it clouded my memories of past games and made me think every game during OSUs run was a beat down which is not the case.

Obviously I knew about the Brown sign stealing stuff and how his defense was exploited by OSU, but reading the article really made it sink in that 2018 and 2019 were exceptions. If you ignore those years you have a blowout in 2015, Harbaughs first year, a coin flip game in 2016, a game a mid Michigan team was in until late in 2017, then the Michigan beat downs in 2021 and 2022.  I’m not saying you can just completely disregard 2018 and 2019 but…well yes I am largely saying disregard them I guess.

With Michigan’s best team under Harbaugh playing at home with a massive chip on their shoulder, I am taking the Wolverines 31-20.

For me this is all dependent on the health of JJ, Roman, Henderson and Hinton.  If all are good to go and can perform above 90%...

UM 27, OSU 20

If JJ and Roman aren't healthy, OSU 24, UM 17

Michigan 48, anOSU 19.

The trajectory from 42-27 and 45-23 naturally lends to 48-19.

Blake Corum with 5 TD's a la Hassan Haskins the last time we hosted the Cooler Poopers, only this to set the all-time UM rushing TD mark.

It's Blake's turn; he deserves a regular season ending send-off as fitting (or moreso) than Haskins and The Don the past 2 years.

8-4 Michigan.

Michigan responds to an early safety with one of their own.  Tuttle runs for a TD late in the 3rd.  Go for two but the fade to Trente is knocked away. (Michigan's only pass attempt of the game).  OSU safety makes it 6-4 with five minutes left.  M tacks on another safety to ice it in the last minute.

I am fearful of the OSU receiving core including Stover.  Their run game will need to be respected also which leaves us vulnerable overall I think.  Additionally, I am fearful of JJ's health and the play of our tackles in pass protection.  I think it comes down to McCord playing on this stage.  If he can be rattled by the crowd, the atmosphere, we have a good chance.   I hope most of the students stayed or come back early from break to insure a full student section. I hope the red in the stands is as low as it has been in 30 years. I hope we win the toss, defer and get a stop, score before the half and get the ball.  These couple of things I think will make the difference.  These kids have been through a lot and at some point it is to much to overcome.  In February I jumped on Michigan -1.  Not sure I would take that bet today.  Did just take the over however.  People down play it, but I think Harbaugh not being on the sidelines in the 4th quarter will make a difference, strategy, support, rallying whatever and will call that the difference.

OSU 34

Michigan 28

Sorry. One of my best memories all time with my dad at the game two years ago.  Hoping to replicate it, but setting myself up for disappointment.

Eerily similar to the PSU game, 25-13. We are more than happy to kill clock and kick the ball and then we get a relatively early defensive TD and the passing game is almost completely forgotten. It doesn’t matter because Ohio’s offense sucks.
In the post game interview Coach Moore says, “I’d like to dedicate these last 3 games to the Big Ten West. I fucking love you man, I’m going to miss you.”

30-23 OSU

JJ not 100%; problems at OT; Injuries on OL; vulnerability in secondary; Harbaugh not on sidelines

Michigan is attempting to do something it's never done in its long history: win three consecutive undisputed—i.e., no co-champions—conference championships.

I don't have a score prediction, but I don't think Moore is going to turtle to protect a small lead.  He's going to go balls out per Harbaugh's instructions.  If that costs us the game, so be it, but we're playing to win.
