Drew Sharp Spin

You have to love Drew Sharp's radio continuity in logic and fairness. Dantonio's 1st recruiting class of 3 4-stars, 12 3-stars, and 7 2-stars was described at the time as a strong foundation to build BigTen Championships that this recruiting class will help build MSU to a top BigTen program. Rich Rod's current recruiting class of 4 4-stars, 15 3-stars, and 1 unranked player (this class obviously isn't finalized yet) was described as poor recruiting and grabbing for sleepers which is leading to the decline of UofM -- just one more reason to potentially fire Rod. My point is not to criticize Dantonio's first recruiting class, but rather media coverage. Dantonio had a worse recruiting class and it is time to sing his praises and Rod with a better recruiting class is just one more of a reason to get fired. With media coverage so unbalanced it is nearly impossible for Dantonio not to succeed, anything he does is reported as golden, anything Rod does is reported as a reason to be fired.

Do MSU Fans not realize that MSU is 6-6 this year. If Michigan would have shown up for the game, it could've easily been 5-7. Why aren't people calling for him to be fired?

has membership in the nations most favored Minority class. You know the civil rights movement was about the need to give minorities equal opportunities...not opportunities created by white guilters who plug in guys like Sharp at their newspapers and allow them to blather on and on, make any outrageous comments, etc. (steven smith is another example) so their newspapers can be "hip".

Before the season started, all the local media called for MSU to win 8 or 9 games and contend for the big ten title. That same media said we have no idea what U of M will be. They could win 7 games or they could lose 7, we just don't know. And when the season plays out, they all jump on the fire RichRod bandwagon. NO ONE in the media has talked about how the Spartans didn't meet expectation, just how Dantonio is building a "winner" and he's the "right guy for the job". It really makes me sick.

All the local media hacks were singing the praises of Dantonio and the Spartans as if they were the heir's to the B10 throne. Nobody really questioned the fact that they had two unproven QBs and inexperienced RBs. All we heard, even in the national publications, was that the Spartans were ready for the next step. Looking at Dantonio's record, he was 18-17 overall at Cincinnati. With 2 bowl wins, one against Marshall. And so far at State he is 22-16 with 2 bowl losses. Looking at last year, he won nine games, but with Javon Ringer carrying 40 times a game, who knows how many he might have won. Also, He was never really critized by the local media for allowing Glenn Winston back on the team after serving jail time for assualt. RR gets no praise for kicking Justin Feagin off the team for dealing drugs. I have heard the local media use the excuse that Michigan is the higher profile university, so therefore anything that happens there is in the spotlight more than MSU. Which in my opinion is an exuse for MSU and the Mike Valentis of the area to shrug off mediocre results and blast Michigan for everything.

Of course MSU won't get blasted by the media for not reaching their expectations. Like I said above, they are MSU - mediocrity is the norm in terms of football. They are little brother in football and until they consistently crank out winning seasons, the spotlight is not going to be on them. How many MSU fans do you know that really watch their football team closely? Not nearly as many because they are a basketball school. You take Michigan, on the other hand, and you have the winningest college football program in the nation. Michigan always has high expectations set on them and they have an enormous fan base, so news relating to losing seasons will be in the spotlight. Michigan tradition is winning, and our lack of success right now is an easy target for the media. It's also easy to stir up a buzz when Rich Rod is already disliked by so many.

I remember in '07 when UM lost to App. St. I was reading the ESPN message boards (I know, not exactly Shakespeare!) and I was laughing at the amount of MSU fans that ripped UM for losing to an DII school. Now the amount of OSU fans was suprisingly low, as well as ND fans. It was MSU fans that laughed the hardest. I resisted as long as I could, but finally I had reply to the Tards. I noted that should the Sparty fans care as much for their own team as they do about UM, then maybe they wouldn't be on their fourth head coach in 10 years.(remember this was in '07)

that i used to work with were firing off emails at work to all of the michigan fans after the horror...they only care about beating mchigan and could care less what bowl game they end up in. there biggest slappy in the MSM mike valenti doesn't think that they should be going to a bowl game because they were only 6-6....

MSU was basically the same team as UM this year, with the exception of the Molk injury that destroyed our Oline for weeks. They, however, beat us, Purdue and Illinois, which is the difference between 3-9 and 6-6 to them, and 5-7 and 8-4 to us. Both schools shit rocked Western. PSU and Wisconsin stomped both MSU and UM. Both had close games with ND, but Tate threw a TD and Cousins(Nichols?) threw an INT. Iowa scored with 0 seconds left to beat MSU. UM and Denard threw an INT with 50 seconds left when a complete to Odoms would have put us in FG range with a chance to win. MSU struggled with CMU (and lost) while UM struggled with Indiana (and won). Given how comparable games played out, I see very little difference between MSU and UM this year. If MSU beats us next year in Ann Arbor, I will be very, very concerned.
