Devery Hamilton following Stanford players and coaches; Biff Poggi tweets he will go to Stanford

Perhaps he's just visiting Stanford this weekend or something? His Twitter profile pic, banner, and bio all feature Michigan. That seems odd if he is, in fact, committed to Stanford. A visit would also explain the quick string of Stanford Twitter follows. On the other hand, maybe this is what Harbaugh was flying to Baltimore for ...

Couple things. Biff Poggi only has 300 followers and no pictures on his account, seems strange for a big time HS football coach. Also he misspelled the kids name, his name is Devery. So maybe he was talking about another player who spells it Devry? Edit:Reddawn beat me too it, slow ass mobile.

There is definitely another lineman in the fold. Probably one that is higher rated than Hamilton like Price or Little. I think Harb made some calls and Stanford is for being a good sport about it.. It really is about the kids. If he gets as great an opportunity and we upgrade, its all love.

You really think Harbaugh can get a kid into Stanford based on a phone call?  They don't even let kids visit unless they've been admitted.  if he really is going to Stanford, this is not an out of the blue development, and it's not something Harbaugh arranged.

First, it is insane to think Harbaugh is somehow this master puppeteer at a school he left years ago. Stanford doesn't care one iota about Jim Harbaugh when it comes to admissions. Two, Hamilton is the type of kid you always take regardless of other options. You maybe grayshirt someone else or pull the offer, not trade. Third, i loved my time at UM, but if I got into Stanford I'd definitely be interested in attending. That's a great school and a great team to play lineman for.

He was the head coach there. He did hire the coach that replaced him. Devery is probably a good student athlete who would qualify. One thing about big-time college athletics is coaches tend to share kids particularly when they have no room. Why let him go to a rival? Why not see your friends and former staff have success? Makes you look good.

While I could see this happening in some circumstances, I would never doubt that a kid would want to accept a full-ride to Stanford over any other offer. As prestigious as Michigan is, it is a step below Stanford as an undergraduate institution (in the eyes of most people, I realize that rankings are mostly subjective).

if true then the way I read it is that we got the word of a plan A recruit like Little will commit to us. seems when a recruit decommits it follows wi th a better recruit. out Richardson in Long eg. Out Swenson in spanellis. maybe it's out Hamilton and in an elite LT

Can't imagine he would want to go all the way out to Stanford when his teammate is here, coach will be coming, program has more upside, we are academically on par, its closer to home.

Was Stanford his dream school or something because it makes no since other than we are upgrading.

Agreed, Stanford has a very clear academic edge over any other FBS school, Michigan is in the next level and is very high up, but Stanford is a level of its own. Hard to be frustrated losing a recruit to them, except at this late hour and we need tackles badly. Hope there's a backup plan in place.

If it is a flip, and there are no other equally or better replacements, then I would go for the highest rated athlete on our board regardless of position.
