Detroit Season Tix Help
Significant other and myself will most likely be relocating from Philly to Detroit or Milwaukee in the coming months (Tentatively around January, which will be fun to watch a south Texas girl experience snow).
As part of us moving, she wants to get season tickets to at least 1 of the pro teams.
I know this is the lowest point for Detroit teams as far as I can remember, so I’m not expecting much. However, in your opinions, which team/stadium/experience will offer us the biggest bang for our buck?
September 20th, 2020 at 2:51 PM ^
Milwaukee / Green Bay there is no comparison.
September 20th, 2020 at 2:54 PM ^
Edit: ...strictly speaking about Detroit teams
September 20th, 2020 at 6:23 PM ^
Yeah, I think he was just fuckin with you. ?
September 20th, 2020 at 2:57 PM ^
All the teams are downtown and are not very good, so it really depends on what time of year and how many games you want to see. Do you like the relaxing outdoors of summer baseball, or are you looking to get out in the winter and basketball or hockey might be better. Lions probably has the most exciting regular season atmosphere, but fewer games. They also consistently under perform compared to expectations more than any team.
I might take the red wings or lions myself.

Detroit City Football Club

Don’t waste your money on the Lions. You’ll be able to pick up good tix on stubhub for about $10.
September 20th, 2020 at 3:10 PM ^
All overpriced - look into less flashy options such as minor leagues or non-revenue college sports for a better experience.
September 20th, 2020 at 8:58 PM ^
Mudhens are pretty close. Fun to watch, great stadium and more competitive.

Lambeau Field although believe the waiting list is major long
September 20th, 2020 at 4:48 PM ^
Exactly, there is no getting season tickets for Lambeau. Even if you could it'd cost you a small fortune for them.
September 20th, 2020 at 3:29 PM ^
Not sure what the Red Wings season ticket pricing would look like with no fans next year, but if you can score a good price in the lower level, do it.
They've hit bottom and will only improve from here, so it would be a great experience to follow the team as they mature.
However, make sure it's lower level. The upper level seats are not comfortable and may give you vertigo.

However, make sure it's lower level. The upper level seats are not comfortable and may give you vertigo.
According to recent FSB reports, anyway.
September 20th, 2020 at 9:20 PM ^
In all seriousness, he’s right. The seats are awful.
September 20th, 2020 at 4:00 PM ^
So you and the wife are both masochists? That's unusual...
September 20th, 2020 at 4:10 PM ^
It gets pretty weird.
I’m a passive Lions/Tigers/Red Wings/Pistons fan for the most part. When they lose, I basically go “meh” and carry on. I’m mostly a fan of the Titans/Grizzlies at the pro level, so I’m fine! The only team she’s attached to are the San Antonio Spurs
Its honestly something we are looking for since we both enjoy sports and attending games.
September 21st, 2020 at 1:02 PM ^
Hey, that sounds pretty nice. I'm an expat New Yorker and root for NY teams, hence the joke. But it sounds like you have a nice marriage there. Hope you two enjoy a lot more games together.
September 20th, 2020 at 4:06 PM ^
If I lived in Detroit I’d definitely have Wings season tickets. Best sport to watch live and the only team with clear upward trajectory (IMO). You could also argue the tigers, but you’ll probably miss out on a lot of the 81 games, especially at the beginning and ended he season when they have day games.
September 20th, 2020 at 5:23 PM ^
This. NHL is far and away the modest exciting live, and you get 41 games.
September 20th, 2020 at 4:06 PM ^
Michigan football or Lions.
Too many games for the other teams so every football game means so much more and football is almost always on the weekend.
September 20th, 2020 at 4:07 PM ^
Why you'd want to sit through 40+ Red Wings/Pistons or 80+ Tigers games is beyond me. At least with the Lions it's only 8 whippings.
I'd trust Stevie Y the most so I guess I'd say Wings. It all sounds terrible though.
September 20th, 2020 at 4:23 PM ^
Honestly, At this point I would consider which athletes/teams you'd like to see that will be playing as visitors... Bigger fan of LeBron, Lamar Jackson, Mike Trout, or Ovechkin. Let that guide your choice. Otherwise, at this point, you're really just wasting your money, and I say that as a fairly avid Detroit sports fan.
September 20th, 2020 at 4:38 PM ^
Darn. I was hoping your title was a sentence, that you would get season tix, and doing so would help the Detroit Lions. They need all the help they can get.
September 20th, 2020 at 5:12 PM ^
My hope that your buying Lions tix would help is a deep one. I just lost a bet to nephews who live in Green Bay. Now I have to wear a paper sack over my head during the next Lions-Packers game.
September 20th, 2020 at 6:32 PM ^
It says something about your fandom that you're still willing to make bets on the Lions you don't intend to lose. Either you're a hell of a fan, or a hell of a fan of your nephews, both of which earn you my +1.
September 20th, 2020 at 4:41 PM ^
I'd probably go Pistons or Red Wings. Red Wings might be trending in the right direction. Pistons you get the chance to see a lot of good teams come in. Lions I wouldn't purchase them on principle. You could always hit up StubHub for the few interesting games. Thanksgiving Day games are always a great atmosphere even if the team is trash (which is most of the time), but you could hit up a family package or get single game tickets and not tie yourself down to 8 games of misery.
September 20th, 2020 at 4:44 PM ^
wrong thread.
September 20th, 2020 at 4:47 PM ^
Red Wings or Tigers. Seeing a baseball game or hockey game is great even when the team sucks. NBA is awful and the NFL is corrupt. Wings should get better soon anyway. I would go with the Wings given a choice.
September 20th, 2020 at 5:53 PM ^
Baseball sucks and is corrupt. Hockey doesn’t get interesting until the playoffs.
September 20th, 2020 at 4:55 PM ^
Perhaps the money would be better spent on professional help...
September 20th, 2020 at 5:36 PM ^
I have a 27 game season ticket package for the Tigers, it works for us. They also offer 20 game packages. With Mize and Skubal and Torkelson coming maybe there's hope
27 game package guarantees playoff tickets
Similarly, Wings would be the 2nd choice, but depending on where you live. Drive in winter can be killer for that many games. I'm sure they offer a 1/2 season as well
Even as a big time sports fan. That many games gets tedious
September 20th, 2020 at 5:51 PM ^
None. They all suck.
September 20th, 2020 at 5:56 PM ^
It's difficult in good conscience to suggest anything having to do with detroit sports teams. This is the longest drought that detroit's teams have gone without a championship in history. (maybe the 70's is close?)
There are other ways to be entertained.
September 20th, 2020 at 6:07 PM ^
Tigers or Red Wings. Lions and Pistons are the biggest duds of the four, and it's hard to beat Comerica on a nice summer day, even if the team isn't great. Wings and Tigers could be good in the next three years too, which you can't reasonably say about the other two.
September 20th, 2020 at 6:33 PM ^
If you're looking for the best social experience either split Tigers season tickets with a friend (81 games is a LOT) or get a smaller 20-30 game package. The city has really come to life in the past 4-5 years, and there is a ton to do before and after games on Summer nights. There are people all over, not just on the weekend but also on weekday nights. I would say the same reason for Lions, plus tailgating if you're into it.
If you're less social and just want to drive to the arena, watch a game, and drive home, I'd say Wings over Pistons. Little Caesars is pretty cool as a venue, but the Ilitchs have really screwed the city and fans over by not keeping their promise to develop that neighborhood. It's all just parking lots for blocks around.
September 20th, 2020 at 6:34 PM ^
Buy Wolverines season tickets. Nicer venue, nicer crowd, better chance of leaving the game happy.
September 20th, 2020 at 7:28 PM ^
https://www.mlb.com/tigers/tickets/season-tickets/plans/15-game
According to MLB.com/tigers, Comerica has 6, 20, 27-game and half-season plans that will be available in 2021, but apparently have discontinued their 15-game plans that would be of greatest interest to me if I lived in SE Michigan.
If you're a baseball fan and unfamiliar with Comerica, I would try to take in a few games before choosing seats. An awful lot of seating at Comerica is simply too far from the playing field, unlike wonderful old Tiger Stadium where you were right on top of the action and only had to avoid numerous obstructed view seats.
And there's also the sun factor, as it's hell to get stuck in the sun for a midsummer game (June-August) and much of Comerica offers no shade. Related to that, home plate is in roughly the NW corner, whereas most ballparks have the batters box in the SW corner. This configuration places many more of the prime seats in the sun for day and the occasional late afternoon games.
September 20th, 2020 at 8:03 PM ^
Someone said it above, but if you feel like Detroit sports in January considering their state at the moment, I would probably run with the Red Wings at Little Caesars Arena. There are cheap-ish places to park if you don't mind a walk, and though the food and drink options are plentiful, the prices could use some lowering. If you get tickets, I'd go with the lower bowl as well.
In the summer, Comerica isn't a bad place to hang out at least - still things to do if you can't stomach the baseball, and for another few years at least, there will be moments where it is hard to stomach.
September 20th, 2020 at 8:05 PM ^
I was 100% sure that this was a request for a referral to a psychiatrist for wanting Lions tickets.
If you cant get Wolverines tickets, Red Wings are your best bet. The Wings are terrible now but give it time and those tickets will be worth a fortune.
As far as your S.O. and snow, please explain that no matter how heavy her jacket is or how waterproof her shoes are, it is probably not enough. I had experience with someone moving from a similar climate come to Michigan in the summer. All the while, they said winter would be fine and it couldn't be THAT cold or THAT snowy. That was the winter of 2013-2014, which some of you may remember for the endless snow and cold that rivaled the surface of Mars (-40, in both Farenheit and Celcius).
September 20th, 2020 at 8:50 PM ^
attitude is everything. i stole my then brand new socal bride to the U.P. 24 years ago and we had 300" of snow. no problems, dressed right, enjoyed the winter tremendously.
September 20th, 2020 at 8:12 PM ^
Philly doesn’t get snow?
September 20th, 2020 at 9:01 PM ^
Yes. Philly gets snow.
I know because I saw it in the "Rocky" movies.

It was the well-known Urals of eastern Pennsylvania in the training montage.
September 20th, 2020 at 9:30 PM ^
This was her first winter this past year. Snowed one day. Melted by the evening. I spent most of my life in Philly and Wisky, so this was weird for me.
September 20th, 2020 at 9:27 PM ^
I gave up my Wings season tickets 3 years ago. I couldn’t justify the cost and I couldn’t go to most games even at the reduced package and I’d just end up giving them away because I couldn’t sell them. I still attend a lot of live sporting events (never the Lions) and I’ve never had issues getting tickets on any of the sites. Helps diversify your viewing experience. If you really really want your own season package, I’d probably pick the Pistons or Wings, but I’m not much of a baseball fan. Like I said, I have been to about 50 Wings/Tigers/Pistons games over the last 3 years and have never had an issue getting decent seats at reasonable prices online with a bit of planning.
September 20th, 2020 at 9:33 PM ^
I used to have season tix to the Windsor ballet.
But right now I’d probably go with 1/4 season package to Wings plus 10 game package to Tigers.
September 21st, 2020 at 9:44 AM ^
Pistons season ticket holder here --
Overpriced AF. It's $35-40 just to park (in closest lots). Taking my son to a game ends up being a $250 night. I think face on our Section 101, row 4 seats is like $70. So by the time, you park, grab a beer and a piece of pizza... it's $$$. Enjoyed many of the games, despite rebuild-quality team. But it's not worth it right now. Not renewing.
Just find best games and buy individual tix on StubHub.
September 21st, 2020 at 12:51 PM ^
It would be hard to justify spending money on teams that just arent very good. That being said I think both the Red Wings and the Tigers are trending in the right direction. Gun to my head I would lean more towards wings tickets.
If I lived closer I would seriously consider buying small game packages for both of these teams. Live hockey is pretty entertaining and the atmosphere at Comerica can be pretty great if the team is doing well.
September 21st, 2020 at 4:43 PM ^
i wouldnt invest in any season tickets until you can figure
out whats up with covid
i live in Milwaukee and season tickets not worth it for the bucks or brewers
detroit ,all the pro teams suck right now
if your coming to Milwaukee, invest in alcohol
