Deja vu anyone?

Does anyone see some symmetry with today's game of Pitt vs Cinci? Three years ago, WVU is primed to head to the national title game and Pitt swoops in the last game of the year and beats them. Their up and coming coach then bolts for a major football power. If Pitt wins today, I can see the same scenario playing out with Brian Kelly to ND. Anyone else have that same thought?

Unless Cincinnati's star player has left the game with an injury and hasn't returned and Cincinnati is essentially beating itself and handing the game to Pitt, the answer is no. I'm at the office today and not watching the game (just the gamecast), so I can't definitively answer those questions. The fact that it's Pitt (potentially) beating Cincinnati is where the similarity ends. I don't get why people want to keep trying to force this parallel. Some major dissimilarities: - WVU was undefeated and heading the MNC with a win; Cincinnati is not. - WVU was at home; Cincinnati is not. - WVU lost a defensive struggle; Cincinnati is losing a shootout. - WVU lost it's coach after losing the game and there was no speculation of losing their coach before the game; Cincinnati is probably going to lose their coach after losing the game and there has been rampant speculation of losing their coach before the game. Let's face it. The similarity is the coaching situation, the opponent involved, and the conference the schools are in, and that's about it. Please just be honest in framing these continual WVU/Cincinnati posts: what you really want to talk about is the similarity between the coaching situations. That's it, end of story. I'm not trying to be a jerk, but I'm just getting sick of people trying to force a comparison that really isn't there.

So I got one thing wrong in there, big deal. The point I made is accurate. Your comparison, as I pointed out, is ridiculous if you look at all beneath the surface. WVU was GOING TO THE NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP GAME IF THEY WON. Cincinnati wasn't going to the national championship game regardless of whether they won or lost. It might have held a little more water had Cincinnati lost, but they didn't, so it doesn't.
