Dax Hill Injury Speculation

Submitted by dcblue92 on October 25th, 2020 at 9:46 AM

I went back to see when Dax got hurt and his last play was the Gophers’ TD run to make it 21-17. Hill dives to make a tackle but misses. It looks like he may have been stepped on or kneed in the head, but it’s tough to tell. There is no video of Dax after the play because they are focused on the replay. My guess with little evidence is concussion. Harbaugh says he is “being evaluated”, which sounds like it could be a concussion. Again, wild speculation, but that’s what this board is for, right?

Freep confirms this was his last play of the game.

Must have been one hell of an eye poke to not have been able to recover after halftime or the entire second half.

Since we're speculating, maybe he lost his contact and didn't have a backup?

If you watch the play you can see where the eye poke may have happened with the stiff arm when he was diving for the tackle. The other possibilities judging from the play (Ibrahim TD run 9:38 2nd Qtr) could have been landing on the left shoulder or it looked like his right hand might have been stepped on by Paige.

I appreciate this thread, feel mostly better about the situation...

He basically locked down Bateman when he was in there.... you could feel a difference when he left the game

Dax is huge for us

His absence changes how the second half should be evaluated. Do Bateman and the Minn passing game find as much success if he's still out there? I'm doubtful

No shot.

Maybe on the long throw.

But the first catch and run was on Paige and he's going to be a great safety but he's not a nickel.

That would've been Dax.

This is where Seldon is too small. Because even if he was ready, he's not covering Bateman in the slot. We need Hill for those situations and when he's ready, you put Seldon on the Giles Jackson, AJ Henning, Ronnie Bell, Mike Sainristil type slots.

Not T.O. type slots.
