Dax Hill Injury Speculation
I went back to see when Dax got hurt and his last play was the Gophers’ TD run to make it 21-17. Hill dives to make a tackle but misses. It looks like he may have been stepped on or kneed in the head, but it’s tough to tell. There is no video of Dax after the play because they are focused on the replay. My guess with little evidence is concussion. Harbaugh says he is “being evaluated”, which sounds like it could be a concussion. Again, wild speculation, but that’s what this board is for, right?
Freep confirms this was his last play of the game.

Someone on twitter said that he got poked in the eye..

Message board insider posters are saying eye injury/stinger and he should be good to go

Thanks Bambi. Hoping it’s nothing serious.

Give him the week off against Sparty. Give Paige some more development time.
October 25th, 2020 at 11:05 AM ^
Give him the second half off after going up 20 points. This is still 2020 and Rutgers has a conference win. I'm not assuming next week is a win.
October 25th, 2020 at 1:21 PM ^
Going up 20 will be in the first qtr, so he can sit out for 3 qtrs.
October 25th, 2020 at 2:28 PM ^
Well their conference win is against Sparty so...
October 25th, 2020 at 12:07 PM ^
Thanks Bambi, I hope he is good to go against MSU.
P.S. Sorry about your mother. Damn hunters.

There is danger when man enters the woods.

I didn’t notice captain insano on Minnesota’s depth chart.

I was thinking concussion first also. First I heard of the poker eye.
October 25th, 2020 at 11:32 AM ^
Poker eye? As in "he looked her up and down with his poker eye."
October 25th, 2020 at 10:08 AM ^
He fell in love with a Sparty, and he's getting those 'Sparty Crush' blues?
October 25th, 2020 at 11:23 AM ^
You continue to be a piece of work. Much deserving of a La Paz vacation.
October 25th, 2020 at 1:50 PM ^
I honestly wonder if he can infer your point.
October 25th, 2020 at 1:04 PM ^
I am going to fall in love with MSU's new coach if he keeps this up.
October 25th, 2020 at 8:49 PM ^
So I guess your crush gets around!

This is good sleuthing, as is the eye poke comments! Good to know it wasn't a blown knee, or some other such BS.
October 25th, 2020 at 10:39 AM ^
Must have been one hell of an eye poke to not have been able to recover after halftime or the entire second half.
Since we're speculating, maybe he lost his contact and didn't have a backup?
October 25th, 2020 at 10:51 AM ^
We had an 18 point lead at halftime. Probably wasn’t worth risking him playing at less than 100% in that scenario. If he had a head injury pulling him was obvious.
October 25th, 2020 at 11:33 AM ^
Eyes are in head. Confirmed.
October 25th, 2020 at 12:15 PM ^
When I played a non-revenue sport 15 years ago we had like 5 sets of contacts for every player who needed them. Today’s big revenue sports it wouldn’t surprise me if they had way more than that.

If you watch the play you can see where the eye poke may have happened with the stiff arm when he was diving for the tackle. The other possibilities judging from the play (Ibrahim TD run 9:38 2nd Qtr) could have been landing on the left shoulder or it looked like his right hand might have been stepped on by Paige.
October 25th, 2020 at 11:11 AM ^
Look at the picture on the Freep article. This is Hill's last play and his hand is about to be stepped on by Paige.
October 25th, 2020 at 11:45 AM ^
Our non-functional freshman CB breaking Dax's hand would be so 2020!
October 25th, 2020 at 11:23 AM ^
Let JH give us the details in the next press conference. Whatever the injury or issue, hope to see Dax back at full strength on Saturday vs sparty.
October 25th, 2020 at 11:25 AM ^
Good luck on the JH details part. He's usually not forthcoming.

“Dax has something happen in the game and so he’s working through something. He’s a really talented football player.”
October 25th, 2020 at 11:31 AM ^
I appreciate this thread, feel mostly better about the situation...
He basically locked down Bateman when he was in there.... you could feel a difference when he left the game
Dax is huge for us
October 25th, 2020 at 12:02 PM ^
Dal is huge for us (fixed it). Dalton Hill is one of Herbie’s favorite up and coming safeties.

This.
He is the a noticeable notch above everyone else in the secondary.
Hill, Hutchinson, Paye and McGrone are MONSTERS!
Ross, Hawkins, Barrett are next.
October 25th, 2020 at 12:33 PM ^
He needs a secret service detail for the rest of the season
October 25th, 2020 at 12:59 PM ^
His absence changes how the second half should be evaluated. Do Bateman and the Minn passing game find as much success if he's still out there? I'm doubtful
October 25th, 2020 at 1:08 PM ^
No shot.
Maybe on the long throw.
But the first catch and run was on Paige and he's going to be a great safety but he's not a nickel.
That would've been Dax.
This is where Seldon is too small. Because even if he was ready, he's not covering Bateman in the slot. We need Hill for those situations and when he's ready, you put Seldon on the Giles Jackson, AJ Henning, Ronnie Bell, Mike Sainristil type slots.
Not T.O. type slots.
