During the Aug. 28 Pure Michigan 400 race week at Michigan International Speedway (MIS) Dale Earnhardt Jr. now in his first year of an Axalta sponsorship agreement will have a special University of Michigan paint scheme on the No. 88 Axalta Chevrolet SS. Design details will be released soon.

The partnership also includes a multi-year commitment from Axalta to support U-M faculty research through collaborative projects that aim to address future opportunities in the coatings segment.

Axalta is the name of the former Dupont Auto Paint division, now an independent company.

Dupont has a rather famous brand in NASCAR, Jeff Gordon's #24:

didn't bump into one another today, what with JG being on campus and all. Shit gets real every time those guys run into one another.

Would that surprise you?

In a previous life, I was a big NASCAR fan.  Even had season tickets to Richmond, Martinsville, Darlington (bought them when the finish line used to be the backstretch, so saw that track in both configurations), and Bristol.  Great tracks, especially Richmond and Bristol!  Also been to Charlotte several times.  Saw the race at Darlington that Dale Sr fell asleep in the car at.

**EDIT:  This should have been a reply to post #12, the question about whether Harbaugh will throw the green flag for the race.

Just my way-too early/way-too biased playoff prediction based off schedules and returning talent. I've got 1. LSU over 4. Oklahoma and 2. Michigan over 3. Florida State. We beat LSU in the 'ship. I think Notre Dame gets left out of the playoff at 12-0.

But yeah, I too like Les and root for him over most SEC squads.

Next it was signing a significant # of recruits right out of SEC territory. Then it was spring practice down in SEC country DURING SPRING BREAK! Now it's NASCAR !!! Is there no end to the things HARBAUGH and Michigan will do to piss off the South (and in particular the SEC)??!

Fire up the still Jr's comin to town.  I bet Harbaugh will lap the field, he will be wearing football cleats so he has the traction advantage.

...I continue to be amazed/blown away by all of the star talent that seems to be flocking to U-M in droves these days since Harbaugh's reign has begun. Unreal.

This is an outrage I tell you! AN OUTRAGE!!! Cats and dogs living together!!! AAAAAAAHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Loved having NASCAR legend Jeff Gordon stop by the facility today! 〽️#GoBlue
