Cutler Martin right hook to Buckeye (VIDEO)

Submitted by Wolverine Devotee on

Sucks for Dakota Joshua.

He ate a mean right hook on TV AND has to go back to that dump state.

Yea as someone who's played hockey at a relatively high level, that's NOTHING. This is something you see on a regular basis in juniors, usually with a half shield too instead of a full fish bowl. It's part of the game and always has been. If you can't take it, watch basketball....

Was this out of line? Sure, but it's not like it wasn't provoked. Martin had one guy holding him and another hitting him when the fight started. You can't expect a guy to not retaliate. He went too far, and will probably have to sit for the Penn State series, but I don't think it goes beyond that. The "FYS" comparison, though, is way off base. That was two Spartys, pissed that they were about to lose, coming up behind Kampfer (just back from a fractured skull, btw), "retaliating" for a legal, and not particularly spectacular, open-ice check by cold cocking Kampfer in the head from behind (Conboy) and then a full swing and hit with a stick while he is prone on the ice (Tropp). The only way these events are in the same ballpark is that they literally were.

What you don't see is Joshua being an absolute goon all game and starting the fight at the end of the game by going after Martin in front of the net. Talk shit, get hit.

Martin's suspension will give Sam Piazza another chance to step up like he did in the GLI.  This is where the depth on the team comes in handy.

Absolutely loved it.... I know the "class" police will be throwing out "stupid" and "selfish" all day, but i saw guys ripping his head back, multiple times while he was in a vulnerable position... If you watch closely, you can see it.

At a certain point I think all bets are off for keeping cool.

Fuck them, this dude had it coming.

I didn't watch the game, nor do I watch Michigan hockey that much (I know, fuck me, right?). But while part of me enjoys a Michigan player wrestling a Buckeye to the ground, punching the guy's head into the ice when he's already down, and bringing the ref down with you, probably warrants a multiple game suspension. And deservedly so. That's how you really injure someone.

Call me a pussy, or a wimp, or whatever. I know hockey is a rough, physical sport, but that just seemed too far.

If you play hockey you know that didn't hurt any more than a standard issue high stick or elbow. They wear helmets and full shields in college...not like this is UFC or something. 1 game is what he will get...

sad to see that from a Michigan player. All of you who are even remotely defending that should take your maize glasses and you'll see that was an inexcuseably dirty thing to do.

but that's in game bafoonery (except for the boarding). Bouncing that guys head off the ice is something that could give you a concussion and the fact that he couldn't defend himself is a bit of a bitch move. Like punching someone from behind or throwing a punch and running.

If it was the Buckeye bouncing Cutler's head off the ice I think some of us would be filing police reports with the AAPD right now

anything you're mentioning justifies punching someone in the face while they aren't looking. The only person who suckerpunches someone like that is a pussy. That doesn't mean Dakota isn't a thug or whatever you wanna say.

That's not the wussfication of america. If anything, it would have been even more embarrassing to suckerpunch someone in the "good ole days"
