Corum Doing 30 Reps at 225 pounds?
Blake the Beast!!
Michigan Twitter just posted a video of what appears to be Blake Corum doing 30 reps of 225 pounds on flat bench. Love how fired up this team is, Blake is coming for it all this fall!
Not only did you get beaten to the punch on this one by a full four minutes your lack of tweet embedding skills got displayed for all to see.
Dont feel too bad on that one though cause you're definitely not alone. I've been trying (mostly unsuccessfully) to embed a tweet for over 10 years. Only in the past couple of weeks did show me that you use the "insert media embed" with the URL to do it properly.
Noted, thanks!
At least this title is more specific though
Upvoted for being a good sport!
Of what appears to be?
No fair! I spent my entire life pumping iron and I got to 5. But it took me a decade to get to that. It was rocking to see so many people excited and egging him on. Looking forward to seeing lots of linebackers getting run over.
The Michigan difference....
they tried this at ohio..... by the time they got to 7 they lost 1/2 the team, by 10 they were all on different counts. The S & C coach made him quit after the 15th rep, because he felt stupid counting by himself while the entire lockerroom tried to lip sync along.
At OSU...
After counting to 10, they took off their shoes.
After counting to 20, they pulled down their pants.
But then they were still stuck on 20.
Love seeing Donovan and JJ as part of the hype crew. Great stuff.
Man, what a beast! That's real teamwork there too. If I had all those guys cheering me on, maybe I could do two. If that.
There can be only one...
Except we have two.
He is jacked I heard
Is this where that guy interjects that not all those reps should’ve counted?
Next week 31
Corum should sleep well tonight. That's his second 30 reps of 225 pounds within four minutes.

I use to do 135 30 times. But only 15 times for 225. He's a beast!

So Corum is jacked and is going to have a crazy year, but two non-related questions.
1. He he now more of a beast power runner than Haskins was? Is that possible?
2. Why does the NFL combine test for bench? And why reps with 225? Why don’t they test for squat reps at [400]? Isn’t football about driving the legs?
2. No one can bench 226 lbs, just too much, so they settled on 225.

We can probably use that you're asking the second question to answer the first. Probably not, and the difference is probably one or both of body weight and lower body strength, at least at the NFL level. Dude is still going to bowl over fools in college.
The NFL bench press is a test of one's ability to focus and prepare for the combine and not much else, since it's mostly a test of recently trained work capacity when everyone in the room is strong as hell and big. That's not worth nothing though as some guys can't do so which tells you something.
Well that and it let's me allege that I'm a better athlete than both Tom Brady and Kevin Durant by virtue of being able to bench 225 while neither of them "could." Pay no attention to neither of them needing to do so at all, Durant having the worst body shape for benching humanly possible, etc.

Better yet, put 405 and let’s see some deadlifts
30 would have been too 10 in 2023 NFL draft combine. Evidently it would have been number 1 in 2022.
