Michigan will reportedly hold the satellite camp in American Samoa on June 1st and on June 30th. They will also hold a camp in Hawaii at the end of June.

*  Additionally, while most of the locations are obvious there are a few that are not so I compared that against our offer list and came up with a couple "to watch" prospects:

Tarik Black            WR 4*  Cheshire, CT

Trevor Kent          SDE 3*  Pittsburg, KS

Cam Akers           RB   5*  Pearl, MS

Jacoby Stevens   ATH 5*  Murfressboro, TN

Nagee Harris       RB    5*  Antioch, CA

Canceled- Huntville, AL^

Kendall Randolp  OT 4*

LaBryan Ray        SSDE 4*

Logan Rudolf       WDE  4*

^ Huntville is about 2 hours from TN camp and 3.5 hours from Atlanta (so still close enough to attend if they want)

Exactly. Private jet plus one small carry on and he can travel pretty fast and light. Plus if the coaching staff splits up he doe doesn't have to spend every minute of every camp coaching. He can skip a few select ones possibly or at the very least do a 30minute or 1 hour cameo to talk to the kids and key local coaches and then head to the next one. The staff does the rest of the grunt work and follow up.

It's got to be a great gig to be a Harbaugh assistant coach . . . but not for too long.

The burn out rate has to be pretty high.  Not everyone has Harbaugh's energy level or the tolerance level of his family.

"Our assistants must endeavor to persevere!"

I'm still chuckling. It's clever, but  actually  true. They do get taxed like no others I can think of.

While some might think our staff, when its time to move on, will do so with an attitude of, "Damn, very fortunate to get through that. Now it's time to relax and coach at a much more leisurely pace."  Somehow I doubt that will be the thinking of the majority. They might not push it like Harbaugh. I mean how many can unless you have a Harbaugh pushing you? But those who are going to turn out to be major successes in this game will never forget what makes Harbaugh different and so very successful.

Imagine Shaw has backed off somewhat on the demands of his players. I can only base that on his demeanor, which seems to be that of a very relaxed head coach. But obviously, he hasn't strayed from that blueprint so I'm guessing they probably work harder than the average PAC 12 team.

I look back often at Michigan football and the changes its undergone between '69 and today. That's what us old farts do. I sometimes compare it to what I did as a coach, only for amusement purposes of course. I'm aging, not delusional. Justt now while responding to Eastside Maize's post, I was thinking of our A.D., the one that hired me. One time he came out on the field before I was able to make my escape and said, "You know, some of the parents think you push these kids too hard." Then I started to laugh(now, not then,) because I imagine Harbaugh as a high school coach, and sometimes I convince myself he would have done it, knowing one season at any high school would have landed him a geat job at the college level. How many coaches , seriously,  have made  a leap from no. 2 in your city to what, because of him, is now the no. 1 college program in our most populated state? Then, of course, let's dispense with all of  this b.s. like winning NCs and the like, the mark of lesser coaches and take a job at the highest level of he  game.

No, I no longer pinch myself, but  I do from time-to-time, give thanks to the powers that be.

To my understanding, spectators are allowed. Sam Webb commented about this the other day saying that Harbaugh would address the "fans" at each camp but not to expect one on one time or autographs. I would think this is especially true this year if he's planning on attending most of these himself.

Regardless of future legislation, I imagine these will slow down in future years.  Right now the staff is working hard to start up (or re-start) relationships with coaches and players in many different parts of the country.  Once a) those relationships are forged, and b) our program is humming, this level of camp circuit won't be necessary.  Plus, they're reaching out to recruits from multiple classes at each camp, the rest is just follow up.

That was what I was thinking.  Last year, Harbaugh did what he had to do to publicize the program and he did it masterfully.  Every day for weeks on end, Michigan/Harbaugh was in the news.  This year, with the ban being overturned, I thought Harbaugh had little choice but to jump in big time.  A few hard weeks and relationships with lots of coaches are forged.  St. Thomas Acquinas itself is huge (Rudock, O'Korn, Bosa brothers, etc.).

If next fall turns out to be a good season, our time in the spotlight will continue and recruiting will continue to become easier.  I'd look at a reduced presence next year.  This swarm, which lasts for about three weeks, can't be fun for the coaches.

I kind of see the camps for the few cycles as the real "blitz", and as years press on and successes mount, you'll see it scale back to something more akin to maintenance of relationships rather than the establishment / re-establishment of relationships - not sure how many camps would constitute "maintenance" though. I would think there would still be many of these, but as Michigan re-asserts itself, they might bet on people willin to go increasingly farther to be seen.

Anyone worried about harbaugh "poaching" at these camps should be simultaneously alarmed and calmed by this list. Sure, he's going to see all the best talent and interact with a ton of recruits, but with 30+ camps, he couldn't even take one recruit per camp. Hell, he probably couldn't take more than one per every three camps. I'll bet only 3-4 guys get offers from this and we only have 1-2 in the final class. That's 1-2 in 30 camps. How could anyone get worried about that? Personally, I've always thought this was about identifying good high school coaches who could get positions at Michigan when the current coaches move up to other positions.

The rationale of the camps is not primarily to get recruits.  As pointed out above, we may get one or two from the camps at most.  And we are solidly in on dozens of elite recruits even without the camps.

The rationale of the camps is to spread the gospel of Michigan football and football in general to a wide audience.  Harbaugh sees himself as a bit of a missionary in all of this.  This is where his heart is, whether he gets any recruits directly out of it or not.

This.  I think people underestimate the extent to which Harbaugh sees it as his mission in life to preach the gospel of football.  The camps are not staged for the benefit of himself or even Michigan; it is for the benefit of football in general.  I think he recognizes that the camps help get his name and Michigan's name out there (and this will have positive effects on recruits who don't even go to the camps, because they will recognize the kind of coach they want to have), but I believe that he'd do these camps anonymously if the rules required it.

The camps are more akin to his trips to Peru than to his home visits.

Yes.  According to what I have heard...he and John Harbaugh have told people that they consider it their mission to spread the gospel of football in general.  They feel that the sport is unfairly under attack right now.

I think you have made the insightful observation. These camps are NOT about recruiting players - that is just superficial talk. The real point is to establish some personal contact and face-time with many of the high school coaches. This is deep recruiting - not for next year but for many years to come.

Are there kids instead of is there kids, or is there a genuine interest level on their part? So I don't know which SEC school you're a fan of, but there has been an interest for as long as I can recall  on the part of the population of each country, respectively, to explore opportunites and interests in the other.

I was shocked at how many Americans I found there in 1971 who were in Sydney, employed on what was usually a three year contract. In the back of every phone book at all the hotels were a listing of job opportunites for Americans in Autsralia.

As to sports, to date we are only familiar with Aussie basketball players and recently the growing numbers of kickers. IHowever, I did meet a woman in CA in winter 2011-12 that was recruited to A&M, where she received her degree, and at that time was the women's 400 meter champ.  I was impressed with some of the Aussie rules football players while there, thinking some of the larger ones, probably about 240 lbs today and seemingly quite fast on t.v., might make good backers, but as to interest in American football I haven't a clue. Harbaugh I think though does. He knows if it's basically to look at a few kickers and continue the marketing or if he thinks some of these young men, with the correct training,  could be viable high-level fb players.
