ND vs Navy starts it off 2:30 PM!!! Playing in Dublin at Aviva Stadium. USC vsSan José State @ 8pm would be the only other ranked team playing in week 0. Last game of the night 9pm LTU vs FIU.

ND and USC roll to start their season. About 10 hours worth of football today, nothing too exciting, but I’ll be watching and hoping for a few nail biters!

college football is back!!

I'm in AZ and the Cards game is on NBC, currently in the 3Q.  So the ND/Navy game isn't televised until afterwards, in about 1.5 hrs.

So it is "tape-delayed".  WTF?  Who came up with this stupid plan?  I am forked in the icehole.

Well, at least I can watch San Jose vs USC on the Pac12 Network later.

One rule change I forgot about while watching Notre Dame - Navy:

No pause after first downs in college football this year.

Got to think that's going to benefit a team with arguably the best offensive line and best backfield in the country who thinks run first.  Also think it should benefit a team with an experienced talented quarterback in end of half or end of game situations.

Notre Dame rushing for nearly 7 yards a rush. Navy’s defense sucks. It’s obvious Notre Dame has spent some time practicing in fall camp for this option offense. Getting them in week 1 was much better than sandwiched between games in the season.

I’m just hoping for a disgusting game that ends 3-0 in 5OT because literally no one can score and both teams look awful. At that point, whoever wins I don’t care.

But there is no one worth rooting for. We compete with ND for all the same recruits so I’d rather not see them get a leg up in anything.

This is going to end up a complete blowout. I was looking forward to the first college football Saturday and this game already sucks. Navy refuses to pass so ND has everyone within 2 yards of the los and ND is running for 7 yards per rush so any pass plays are one on one battles.

This ND/Navy is unwatchable.  Better high school football lineup all day on ESPN2.

Earlier, Chaminade-Madonna beat St. Francis Academy 35-14.  Zaquan Patterson committed to Miami at halftime.  And guess who finished second?  Yep.  St. John Bosco at St Thomas Aquina on now.  IMG Academy vs St Joseph Prep and Mater Dei at Carlsbad still to follow.

I think points are broken again.

And I am also seeing two drinking posts from last night

The board is falling apart on the first day of the season

Well at least it's free, so I'll stop complaining

Hartman makes ND significantly more competent.  Their schedule is too tough to make the CFP imo (USC, osu and Clemson), but they'll be a tough out all year long.

If they do take 2 out of those 3, they could lose 2 and make it depending on other things.  A 1-loss ND most likely gets in.

I do think Hartman raises their floor but it'll be interesting to see how he handles playing against a higher-caliber of defense without the schematic advantages/style Wake's offense had.  He had a crazy game against Clemson that year but that was in Clausen's offense, which is something ND is unlikely to try to replicate.  But at the time Hartman was a big pickup by them and I suspect it'll pay off for them all year.
