ND vs Navy starts it off 2:30 PM!!! Playing in Dublin at Aviva Stadium. USC vsSan José State @ 8pm would be the only other ranked team playing in week 0. Last game of the night 9pm LTU vs FIU.
ND and USC roll to start their season. About 10 hours worth of football today, nothing too exciting, but I’ll be watching and hoping for a few nail biters!
college football is back!!

That was a very Michigan-looking drive for Notre Dame
August 26th, 2023 at 2:54 PM ^
I'm in AZ and the Cards game is on NBC, currently in the 3Q. So the ND/Navy game isn't televised until afterwards, in about 1.5 hrs.
So it is "tape-delayed". WTF? Who came up with this stupid plan? I am forked in the icehole.
Well, at least I can watch San Jose vs USC on the Pac12 Network later.
August 26th, 2023 at 2:58 PM ^
You’re not missing much so far. One drive in, Navy’s defense is playing very RichRod like and the commentators are orgasming themselves over ND every 10 seconds.
7-0 Notre Dame.
August 26th, 2023 at 3:03 PM ^
Here's what you're missing:
ND sucks at life
Navy sucks at football
It's raining in Ireland.
The announcers are a meh -
August 26th, 2023 at 3:35 PM ^
meh would be an aspiration for this crew.
August 26th, 2023 at 3:08 PM ^
HA! I was able to stream it using the NBC Sports App. This old boy has "still got it"
August 26th, 2023 at 3:01 PM ^
That’s what happens when you rarely pass, two receivers run the same route and one basically plays defense on the other one.
August 26th, 2023 at 3:02 PM ^
Are we stuck with Jason Garrett for any of our games? Also unwatchable.
August 26th, 2023 at 3:08 PM ^
Jason Garrett is slowly killing my will to watch college football
August 26th, 2023 at 3:09 PM ^
NBC's very, very bad at this. One of the many reasons I wasn't thrilled by this contract.
August 26th, 2023 at 3:20 PM ^
I would certainly hope (almost expect) they'll give us Tirico for B1G Saturday Night and this crew does the ND games all season.
August 26th, 2023 at 3:04 PM ^
Navy's alignments on defense are... a choice.
August 26th, 2023 at 3:09 PM ^
Endless blitzing from the edges leaving nobody in the center of the field. That is...unsound.
August 26th, 2023 at 3:07 PM ^
One rule change I forgot about while watching Notre Dame - Navy:
No pause after first downs in college football this year.
Got to think that's going to benefit a team with arguably the best offensive line and best backfield in the country who thinks run first. Also think it should benefit a team with an experienced talented quarterback in end of half or end of game situations.
August 26th, 2023 at 3:13 PM ^
That’s…going to be weird to get used to, all things considered. Your timeouts are going to be even more critical. There’s going to be a lot more spiking the ball to stop the clock.
August 26th, 2023 at 3:20 PM ^
Believe the old rule returns in the last two minutes of a half.
August 26th, 2023 at 3:21 PM ^
I count about 30 plays, including KOs in Q1. That's a pace of 120 for the game, 60 plays each. Not a lot of inc passes, or passes ata ll of course.
Previous years were about 75 plays per team right?
August 26th, 2023 at 4:23 PM ^
Benefits TOP teams until there's less than a minute and you need a score.
August 26th, 2023 at 6:04 PM ^
It definitely benefits underdogs though.
August 26th, 2023 at 3:16 PM ^
Notre Dame rushing for nearly 7 yards a rush. Navy’s defense sucks. It’s obvious Notre Dame has spent some time practicing in fall camp for this option offense. Getting them in week 1 was much better than sandwiched between games in the season.
August 26th, 2023 at 3:17 PM ^
I know it's "only Navy" but with Hartman at QB, I'm starting to get real interested in their home game against osu.
August 26th, 2023 at 5:06 PM ^
I’m just hoping for a disgusting game that ends 3-0 in 5OT because literally no one can score and both teams look awful. At that point, whoever wins I don’t care.
But there is no one worth rooting for. We compete with ND for all the same recruits so I’d rather not see them get a leg up in anything.
August 26th, 2023 at 8:04 PM ^
Wrong.
Always root for osu to lose.
August 26th, 2023 at 11:57 PM ^
Except against Notre Dame.
August 26th, 2023 at 3:19 PM ^
Our first one play then another commercial sequence of the year.
August 26th, 2023 at 3:31 PM ^
Navy without the triple option novelty is just no fun.
August 26th, 2023 at 3:32 PM ^
Fuck Notre Dame. I’m done with this game.
August 26th, 2023 at 3:33 PM ^
Navy looks terrible defensively.
August 26th, 2023 at 3:34 PM ^
This is going to end up a complete blowout. I was looking forward to the first college football Saturday and this game already sucks. Navy refuses to pass so ND has everyone within 2 yards of the los and ND is running for 7 yards per rush so any pass plays are one on one battles.
August 26th, 2023 at 4:08 PM ^
A complete blowout - as expected. No big surprise
August 26th, 2023 at 4:27 PM ^
Notre Dame beat them 35-32 last year.
August 26th, 2023 at 6:50 PM ^
The thing with all the service academies is that they have so much turnover every year or two that it's hard to gauge one season off the other, doubly so when they have a first-year HC like Navy.
August 26th, 2023 at 3:38 PM ^
And your first QB hurt while feet first sliding. CFB is back!
August 26th, 2023 at 3:47 PM ^
N Alabama / Mercer is fun so far.
August 26th, 2023 at 3:53 PM ^
Really digging deep...
August 26th, 2023 at 4:06 PM ^
Truth. It's desperation. I want real college football back.
August 26th, 2023 at 4:00 PM ^
Has the Sam Hartman for Heisman campaign already begun?
August 26th, 2023 at 4:10 PM ^
Go read the ND boards. Hartmann has already locked up the Heisman and ND has a firm grip on the NC. Those morons don't realize that this is an undersized Navy team
August 26th, 2023 at 4:21 PM ^
Sounds about right, they are ND fans after all.
August 26th, 2023 at 4:19 PM ^
This ND/Navy is unwatchable. Better high school football lineup all day on ESPN2.
Earlier, Chaminade-Madonna beat St. Francis Academy 35-14. Zaquan Patterson committed to Miami at halftime. And guess who finished second? Yep. St. John Bosco at St Thomas Aquina on now. IMG Academy vs St Joseph Prep and Mater Dei at Carlsbad still to follow.
August 26th, 2023 at 4:24 PM ^
I think points are broken again.
And I am also seeing two drinking posts from last night
The board is falling apart on the first day of the season
Well at least it's free, so I'll stop complaining
August 26th, 2023 at 5:01 PM ^
Hartman makes ND significantly more competent. Their schedule is too tough to make the CFP imo (USC, osu and Clemson), but they'll be a tough out all year long.
If they do take 2 out of those 3, they could lose 2 and make it depending on other things. A 1-loss ND most likely gets in.
August 26th, 2023 at 6:47 PM ^
I do think Hartman raises their floor but it'll be interesting to see how he handles playing against a higher-caliber of defense without the schematic advantages/style Wake's offense had. He had a crazy game against Clemson that year but that was in Clausen's offense, which is something ND is unlikely to try to replicate. But at the time Hartman was a big pickup by them and I suspect it'll pay off for them all year.
August 26th, 2023 at 5:17 PM ^
Liked Sam Hartman at Wake Forest - hate him now.
Dude is 24. Has grey hairs in his beard - is that fair? Lol...
To hell w him and Notre Dame!
August 26th, 2023 at 5:28 PM ^
Game is way too fast without the clock stopping after first downs.
August 26th, 2023 at 5:55 PM ^
They removed that rule? Stupid.
August 26th, 2023 at 6:01 PM ^
They determined the problem with CFB is that there's too much of it and not enough ads.
August 26th, 2023 at 6:37 PM ^
Navy also makes games go very quickly.
August 26th, 2023 at 6:14 PM ^
Go UTEP!
