Closing out the 2014 Class

Submitted by Dustinlo on

There have been various posts over the past few weeks regarding who will close out the 2014 recruiting class. Correct me if I am wrong, but it seems there are two open spots at this time. Possibilities that have been mentioned recently:

1) Jeff Jones (4* RB)

2) Marlon Mack (3* RB)

3) Malik McDowell (4-5* DE)

It seems that the first two may not be an academic fit according to several reports over the past week. Is that still the case or will these guys make an official visit prior to NSD?

It also looks like, according to our recruiting guys, the Malik McDowell ship may have sailed with his OV set for MSU's big recruiting weekend. This is in contrast to him previously saying he would not take an OV to either of the in-state schools.

Unless I am mistaken, it appears we won't be getting any of these three guys. Does that mean we may land one or two Norfleets on NSD? Just seeing whether anyone out there has a feel for how the last two weeks of this recruiting period will go for us.

Go Blue

Most of the time, when an football player says he cares about academics, he means "how will a school help him make sure he passes his classes so he can play football." It's not about the degree or actual education. Any of these kids would be gone to the pros in 2 years if they are good enough to do so. Hand is a smart kid but I doubt he stays all 4 years if he's good enough to leave for the NFL after 2.
