to appearances than they are to morality or reason.
So while sociopaths couldn't care less about how their actions affect others, they will do most anything to be perceived the way they wish. It is this overemphasis on appearance that allows sociopaths to hide in plain sight--and that occasionally drives them to kill.
I agree the NCAA behaves like a sociopath. Hence I'm unsure reason or morality will move the NCAA needle. Hence the shaming campaign.
"All I hear is it's about the student-athlete, well by golly it ought to be about the student-athlete, it ought to be about them having the opportunity to be evaluated and the parents not have to drive to 10 or 15 different universities in a two-year period to try to get their son evaluated,"
Tommy said "by golly" and got quoted? Nice.
While it is his opinion, he does do a decent job of summing up one of the core problems here. Accessibility was a very convenient and cost-effective aspect of these camps, not to mention the ability to visit with programs and - my word - have choices.
I ain't no Chunkums, gifs gotta come from somewhere.
So FIRST...Tuberville.

The rule is obviously horribly written with many unintended cosequences. This is exactly the reason a confirmation process exists. When all is said and done this saga will end up being a major victory for us.
Is anyone else supremely dissapointed that Mark Magino isn't named Tommy Tubberville? They should be made to switch names.

Here's the money quote:
Tuberville, who had previous head coaching stops at Ole Miss, Auburn and Texas Tech, said he remembers when the SEC banned satellite camps and it was because coaches were spending too much time away from their families.
So, don't go. Nothing says you must. Send your assistants. Take your family. You're making $4M/year, put them up in a nice place and have a nice dinner with them after you're done if you go.

You also said that the only way you'd leave Oxford, Mississippi would be in a pine box.

A lot of P5 coaches supported the ban out of pure spite for Harbaugh and the idea of losing a bit of time off, without ever thinking about/considering how it would affect other coaches. I think there will be a ton of pressure from other coaches to overturn it or modify it.
