Chaundee to the Lakers!

Chaundee signed an exhibit-10 contract with the Lakers.  They just traded half their bench for Russell Westbrook, so it seems like a great place to be if you are trying to make a team.  They need cheap contracts, toughness, and 3 point shooting - Chaundee can deliver all of those with a big smile on his face.

In case you are wondering what exactly is an Exhibit 10 contract? According to Google it is essentially a glorified training camp/G-League contract. It allows the player to participate in the team's training camp while also allowing the Grizzlies to control the players G-League rights.  As a C's fan - I remember that we signed Tacko Fall to one, then moved him to a 2-way contract, which allowed him to shuttle back and forth between the NBA & G-League, being on the NBA roster for up to 45 days.

*note it should say team/Lakers rather than Grizzlies as Grizzlies was in the Google example I pasted from.  I can't figure out how to edit my original post.

This is great news about one of my favorite players. As I said once during the season, there are only two things wrong with Chaundee:

1. We only had him for one year.

2. He doesn't have a twin brother who plays football.

Congratulations, young man. Give 'em hell, and GO BLUE!

Great landing spot with an opportunity to play with and learn from Lebron who has a history of making system players look great.

Westbrook is a bit out of control at times and gets criticized for ball domination, but is a willing passer shots should be available.

I just hope they have a weight room with adequate plates and dumbbells for his lifts.

It’s just because he’s kind of an asshole, but I love that about him because he’s actually also tough as nails and can ball out, unlike Beverly or Paul who talk so much smack but then put those acting classes to work if anyone breathes on them

I don't think it's as much that he's an asshole as that he is inefficient. He's not a good shooter and is often out of control.  I love how hard he plays, but his game has some specific holes that really limit what a team can do when he is steering the offense from the PG position.

Maybe if he shoots less - but that can end up disasterous as we've seen with Ben Simmons.

He should definitely get a good chance to make the team. The Lakers lost KCP in the trade and Chaundee fits his role pretty darn well. The Lakers also signed Mac McClung as well.

Both players the Lakers added on their deals are well-regarded by draftniks, with Ayayi ranked as the third-best undrafted prospect by ESPN, and Reeves ranked second:

So the Lakers added 2 of the 3 best Undrafted prospects, one who was actually ranked in the 30s but fell out of the draft. And then added Chaundee and McClung. All 4 could find themselves playing in NBA games this season. Chaundee fits exactly what the Lakers are going to need for a while.

Not too bad a spot for him to land, if my limited, uninformed basketball opinion means anything.

They just traded for Russell Westbrook, and I imagine that along with that comes a huge hit towards their cap, as well as having traded away three players and a draft pick. I don't know if anyone they traded were starters (I pay no attention to the NBA beyond surface level updates), but at the very least they traded away rotational depth pieces. So I imagine the depth behind their superstar trio is, shall we say, limited.

I have to believe that the Lakers are looking for good, cheap talent that they can try coaching up and just hope they work out, and Chaundee brings several things to the table that you're looking for in the league. He will get a real shot to make the team just based off his three point shooting abilities alone. When he's on his game, he hits three point shots with the best of them. How many games did he bail Michigan out because it?

Should be interesting. He can shoot and he can defend, and I think he'd fit in well as an energy bench guy for a team with several star veterans. Might take a year of G-league, but I wouldn't put it past him to just flat out make the team either.
