How about a fucking play action or a goddamn screen pass. I'll take a flea flicker for Christsake. Seriously though, flea flickers are super successful. It should be regularly called as part of an offense. Innovate!!!!

Umm one of their tds was on a flea flicker. And honestly they ran a decent amount of PA. But yes screens being more or less ignored has long been an annoyance under Harbaugh, that is 100% true.

So I can't say I am happy about Harbaugh to the NFL being a thing every off-season because of it's impact on recruiting or that I agree with his overall philosophy at times. And yes this team should have beat TCU going away and honestly would have with even a decent performance , but they should be remembered as the team that did something that hadn't been done in 20+ years at UM and earned it by beating their rival in their house. I refuse to accept the modern college football mindset that your year wasn't good unless you won a NC. That is quite frankly a miserable existence to have as a fan if you allow that mindset to creep in.

I commend the players. They made mistakes but those guys fought. My problem is on the coaches. They deliberately ignore the passing game “why pass when we don’t have to” and then finally when they have to, it is like they are shocked that their players are not executing as they would like. That loss is on them. I’m know they can win games where the run game is clicking (most teams do), but at the elite level in college it is about how well your QBs and WRs can execute when called upon.

It’s tough with the loss fresh on our minds, but frankly I’m convinced this year was actually better than ‘97. I know that season will never be beatable to a good chunk of the fanbase who came of age around then, but we live in a very different era of college football. 2022 Michigan obliterated an OSU team that went toe-to-toe with (and probable should have beat) almighty Georgia—in the freakin’ horseshoe! I’m not scoffing at Michigan’s ‘97 schedule but that team didn’t have a win of that caliber. Stroud is a top 5 pick and will leave OSU having never beaten Michigan.

Coincidentally 97 is the first season I can remember watching with my parents as a 7-8 year old. So you can say no year has quite lived up to the first I remember as a kid, but yes this was at least close. Undefeated regular season and 20+ point wins over both rivals. Even an extra win prior to the bowl game/playoff with the conference title game now being a thing.

This year’s win over Ohio State was huge. In 97 the win against #1 Penn State was a complete domination from the get go. I remember Michigan’s defense came out swarming and at the time it seemed like just as big a win. I watched that while bartending and my manager was a Penn State grad and an absolute JoPa lover, so that made it even more satisfying.

TCU has the worst DBs I’ve seen all year, and for some reason we waited until we were down three scores before consistently throwing downfield. God our coaches fucked that up.

So did MSU. Our coaches ran into the stacked boxes. They don’t actually care what the strengths of defenses are. This is no cap. You can have the best run defense in the country and the worst pass defense. Michigan will run 40 times. Rutgers, Georgia, Saline High School, Philadelphia Eagles. They don’t care. Stacked box, light box, Jack in the Box. They don’t care. The only way to get them to pass is to make it a two or more score game.

Finally someone who gets it. Already some people talking about opening it up next year lol. I'm hoping JH goes pro so we can.

You HOPE to lose a coach off the back of consecutive conference championships because you take issue w their offensive approach?
What JH accomplished at UM is absolutely remarkable...and you HOPE he leaves.
Good chance we don't see a run like this again in decades.

Just as a friendly reminder.
As Kirby Smart celebrates another National Championship and will soon go back into the lab to start prepping for the three-peat, Jimmy will be on a few Zoom calls interviewing for other jobs this week.
But, it's all good..Because he thinks he'll be back!
....WHAT IN THE ACTUAL FUCK.
Goodnight all..
Congrats Georgia. I miss college football already!!
