That was very touching and pulled at the heartstrings. His father seemed like a good man.

And I have to be honest - this virtual draft is actually a much better format, imo. Sure, you don't get to strut the stage in your finest threads, but on the other hand, you get to be there with your family and closest friends when your name is called. And if your name isn't called, you don't sit there in the green room, televised, looking like a chump.

Dang why wasn’t his fathers story ever brought up during a Michigan broadcast.

Congrats Cesar. Great pick and great destination for him. Play with Brees for a few years then be the anchor when a new QB comes in.

good for him, he put in the work.  comes across as a great dude and everyone in the building seems to enjoy being around him, not to mention the kid can ball.  nice landing spot too - a stable organization in a cool city with some invested fans

Good fit for him.  Passing O.  Playing indoors. Warm weather outside.  Solid organization.  Good coach.  Gumbo.

You can say what you want about OSU having a bunch of picks in the 1st round. But, Michigan has the kids with true heart, and ones that bring high character to their teams. Ruiz’s reaction is all you need as proof of it.

congrats Cesar! I wish you were staying one more season but it looks like a you made the right move getting picked in the first round. No chance for an injury in your senior season.

Congrats, Cesar! Going to one of the best organizations in the league and protecting one of the best QBs in the league.

I had no idea what had happened to his father. Absolutely tragic, but that’s why you’ve got to love the draft. Seeing so many kids overcome challenges, adversity and in some cases tragedy to achieve their dream. Cesar has earned this through and through. Best of luck, friend.
