97 Over Jimmys

This gets at the heart of the current turmoil. Just as we are shocked that we bullied them, they are doubly shocked at having been bullied. There is soul-searching (if possible for anyone associated with that program) in Ohio precisely because this win calls into question their entire approach.

Lots of OSU folks are quietly (or less quietly) saying yes, we ARE a finesse team, and that's a problem outdoors in late November. Finally it feels like UM has established a strategic advantage that OSU must respond to.

Ryan Day particularly. He's got to examine why his team showed up flat and got out-toughed. Turns out that still matters. "Wanted it more" is a cliche, but in this case it was the truth.

Here is the fun part. With all the knee jerk moves they will make nobody paying attention to the fact that they are messing with a previously 25-0 vs big ten coaching record? Sure they may upgrade or change things for the better but man they are playing with fire. Getting them to change things with that record vs the Big Ten may pay some huge dividends. Chaos of any kind (I said this about the weather) is 100% in our favor.

It's amazing.  They are going from never having lost in the Big Ten under Ryan Day, to soul-searching how they need to restructure their entire approach to football . . . in one game.

Absolutely stunning.

This is like their version of our 2007 App State and Oregon games.  A lot of gut wrenching self doubt after that.

You are welcome, Ohio State.

Coach Gattis is right on the point. This Ohio State team doesn’t have the toughness. They are too elite and only thinks about playing on Sunday. This is a built-in culture from the past years and may take some time to shake off.

To all Buckeye fans, we are very sorry that the observations of our Offensive Coordinator bother and offend you considering the classy manner in which you've conducted yourselves these many years of success over Michigan.  As a peace gesture I offer you the following sentiment:

Go F#@K Yourselves.

The truth hurts. OSU got to heap two decades worth of truth on Michigan before this year and last I checked, they never once took a chance to hold back their thoughts on the subject or pull any punches. Now that the shoe's on the other foot, it's "bush league," "low class," or "disrespectful." You only feel that way because now its happening to you. You had no issues rubbing Michigan's face in the dirt when you were on top.

You got punked and straight up out-classed. Now you're going to have to do what Michigan begrudgingly had to do almost every year for the last twenty years: shut up, take your medicine, and deal with it.

I have to imagine this loss especially hurts for the Millennial / Gen Z OSU fans who grew up after the Cooper years, saw the rivalry only through the lens of Tressel and Meyer teams, who simply don't know how to handle losing. This is what I always said was the one downside to OSU winning as much as it did. When the day finally came that they lost, they would not know how to handle it. Or at the very least, the younger generation wouldn't. I suppose many of the Gen X'ers and Baby Boomers are old enough to remember the 70s-80s when the rivalry was back and forth, and then the 90s when Michigan was on top.

Still, many of them took this rivalry for granted and just flat out believed it wasn't a rivalry anymore. It was just a tune-up for the BTCG and the playoffs. In a sense, I can't blame them, but at a certain point many of them just believed they were entitled to a win every year because that's the only thing they ever knew.

To quote one of my favorite shows ever, "Let me be clear. You are entitled to nothing. You are entitled.....to nothing."

The pearl clutching coming out of Columbus with this quote and Harbaugh talking about third base really highlights how many front runners are in that fanbase.  Like, take your lumps and get over it, stop trying to act like the delicate sensibilities are offended.

OSU is the typical bully. Shoot their mouths off when things are going good, but cry and run home to mommy when someone punches them in the mouth, like Scut Farkus did when Ralphie beat the crap out of him.

It’s quite amazing how fast the game can change on you.  We have gone from both NFL and CFB being basketball on turf to a defense oriented game in just a matter of a year or two.

After scoring touchdowns on all 4 positions in the second half with 75% running plays and ZERO 3rd downs, the winning OC can accurately state that his O shoved around their D.

I recall Wisconsin had 30 straight running plays or such against UM in the RichRod days - and there was no debate about the softness with the UM defense.

The truth hurts. They should direct their anger  at Day rather than Gattis.

I read some of their in-game comments on their game thread.  If they had their own "State of Our Open Threads" post, the top word would be "Soft". By a lot.

This from their own fans.

Gattis did not say anything that Buckeye nation did not already say while the game was going on.

Harbaugh's thing was always to pick a fight with the biggest bully on the block . . . Pete Carroll at USC, Seattle in the NFL, etc.  Once he did, he punched them in the mouth, stole their lunch money, and then achieved a run of greatness from there.

It's good to have that Jim Harbaugh back.
