BuckeyeScoop: OSU's Brian Hartline interviewing for Cincinnati HC job
As recruitniks know, Brian Hartline, the OSU WR coach, is a major driver of OSU's offensive success—both in recruiting and coaching the best WR room in the country. According to BuckeyeScoop, Hartline is interviewing for the newly vacant head coaching position at Cincinnati. Unfortunately the article is paywalled, but here's the link to the site's tweet.

Personally I feel this would be a great opportunity for him, he should absolutely jump at the chance.

It would be weird for a P5 team taking a run at Hartline as a first-time coach but given the fact Cincy is in a bit of no-man's land when it comes to the Big 12 geographically (they are going to struggle to pull kids from Texas and Oklahoma, for example) then trying to get a guy who can recruit and develop local kids makes a ton of sense.

I think Minter will stay put 1 more year. But with continued success he will be a HC Candidate soon. Sure he wasn't so successful at Vandy, but that is a really tough place to win, and Vandy is probably the only school at the SEC with real academic requirements. One more year of Jim's grooming and he might be ready for a HC job. Unfortunately that is the way it is, and I really admire Jim's apparent willingness to help his assitants get promoted within and/or to other institutions, he is a real leader and CEO in that respect.

Without going into the hate of OSU, Hartline deserves consideration. The dude has been dominating recruiting and OSU consistently has been putting out top receivers. Since he started coaching there they've drafted Curtis Samuel, parris Campbell, terry McLaurin, Garrett Wilson, and Chris Olave. Smith-Njigba will be this year. Egbuka, fleming, and Harrison next year. It's crazy what they have done with the WR position. Cincinnati has also been a great stepping stone for so many coaches. Dantonio, Fickel, Jones, Kelly. Hoping he gets it because I could see Minter getting consideration since his father was there for so long, but that could happen after a few years.
Now with the hate of OSU. I REALLY hope Hartline leaves. Cincinnati is becoming a bit more attractive for recruits with them going to the big 12, and have put a lot of players in the NFL the past few years. In fact, more than Clemson in the past few years. Fickle seemed to be the coach in waiting for when Day leaves, but with him now at Wisconsin I just do NOT see that happening any time soon.

Also, I might be reaching, but maybe receivers aren't so happy to sit on the bench for OSU for 3 years when their old position coach has a head job elsewhere in the state. But mostly this would be a blow to recruiting for them at a very, very key position in their scheme.

The fact he'd even interview is very interesting, as OSU fans have always sworn to me he'd never even consider leaving for anything. Interviewing for a lesser program indicates that's not the case at all. Would be a big blow to OSU if he left, he's a fantastic recruiter.

This would be awesome

Sounds like Hartline is staying at OSU for now.

Phrases line "right now my heart is at" or "right now my focus is on" coming from a coach typically indicate that coach is out the door.

Well it’s understandable what the championship and the playoffs OH NO they don’t have to worry about any of that.

Obviously coach rumors should be taken with appropriate grains of salt. But I heard that Hartline in fact did interview with Cincinnati, at least an introductory interview, and bombed pretty bad. He will be a head coach somewhere IMO but as of right now he's not ready. That said I believe Hartline will be the next head coach at Ohio State whenever Day leaves.
