Everyone of these guys expects Michigan will give up three or more TDs. Last year's game turned on special teams plays and inept offensive execution by the Wolverines. Now part of that was obviously a well-coached Utah team playing solid. But Utah simply converted on its turnover chances and took advantage of sloppy Michigan mistakes.

I expect a very disciplined effort Thursda with a solid defense giving Michigan the same kind of scoring opportunities which the Utes got in the Big House last year.

In any case, I will be disappointed if the defense gives up more than 30 points to the Utes.

Why does it bother people when TV personalities don't pick Michigan to win a game? As a neutral fan I would absolutely be picking Utah to win this one. Michigan has done next to nothing on the road in the last 7 years, they are breaking in another new coach, they have a QB who is new to the program, and they lost by 16 to Utah at home last year. Yes, yardage, I know, but they also didn't score on offense last year. Until Michigan proves it has improved there is really no reason for unbiased fans to pick them to do something amazing. It isn't an insult, they have to pick someone. I guess I just don't get the midset is all.

Is it just the offiicial line or is there something else to go on? Why does everyone predict a similar scoring outcome? Utah wasn't an offensive juggernaut.

I mean if you conflate questions about performance based on unknowns as solid rationale for certain outcomes, all you are left with is rating the value of home field advantage versus the spread and previous scoring margins.

So this makes the Utes a team which won by 16 points on the road but failed to outgain the Wolverines offensively  vastly superior because it benefits from all the home cooking of that.

It's a crap shoot and best guess by lemmings making uneducated guesses. Would you be willing to wager on these predictions?

Holy crap, people are allowed to pick against us. It's a fairly logical pick given our recent road woes... and yes, Harbaugh. But for now, I don't get all butthurt when someone picks against us in a tough road game to open the season.

Lets win and prove people wrong. But enough with the F yous and theats of ass eatings.

Frank the tank says: 1. It's a first game/away game against a borderline top 25 team. 2. Minus the coaching staff, this current group has not been good on the road. 3. Who is our starting QB again? Or RB? Hell, I'm not sure who our best WRs are currently. 4. Will our DTs, DEs or LBs get to the quarterback and force some damn TOs. How about a QB sack? We have a lot of questions, folks. It's not that far-fetched that some are picking against us this first game. With all that said, I'm going UM - 24/Mormons - 21

I hope all reporters pick Utah, honestly.  That will make victory so much sweeter, that everyone not on mgoblog underestimated the power of HARBAUGH, or it will make defeat slightly less bitter.

Why exactly would the BTN pundits have to apologize to us on Thursday night?  Picking Michigan to lose this game is reasonable, and none of them have us getting crushed by the Utes.  Surprised that nobody is willing to take a chance on us, but whatever, it's not the worst insult ever visited upon Michigan in the history of college football.  Relax.

Someone over at BTN needs to take a class on page design/layout.  What a horrible way to list predictions. Would it kill them to do a chart with rows and column?.  I only got through the second set before I hit the back button.  Judging by the responses here, I didn't miss much.

I definitely like that we are underdogs and people are picking against us. I'd be MORE worried if everyone was picking Michigan in this game or were predicting a 10 win season. The doubters should make this team hungry.  Honestly I think Desmond purposely made a modest prediction because that's what the team needs to hear. Not that they are great simply because they are Michigan or who they're coach is.
