Branden Jennings on verge of flipping to Maryland?

Submitted by Wolverine91 on December 8th, 2020 at 11:21 PM

Thanks Warde! You totally fucked us with your stupid “answers” today.  Top linebacker commit in this years class, Branden Jennings, on verge of flipping to Maryland after reaffirming his commitment to Michigan just a couple days ago is all you need to know about how bad Harbaugh and Warde are fucking this program. First it was Xavier worthy, and now this. Jaydon hood also may be flipping to Miami soon. But of course, contract talks until after the season only.

Players don't matter when you can't develop them or put them in a position to succeed

If we have to lose this class to build the foundation for the future, I'm for it. I would hope the recruits would want to stay to build it, but I would understand and respect if they didn't

What did people think would happen?  Jennings ditched FSU because they sucked.  People thought he would stick with us when we suck too?

I'm just hoping this is because he knows Harbaugh is gone.  Either way I expect we will lose more from this class.

Take a breather guy. Harbaugh is leaving. Guys will leave. It happens. There are more important things than half a recruiting class. It’s like worrying about the the interior design of your home as your roof is caving in.

With this year not counting towards eligibility, I'm not as worried about recruits flipping from this class as I would normally be; this team is SUPER young as is. Now, getting a different coach (or staff) to develop all the young guys is a question. I still would like to see Campbell come over and bring his 3-3-5 with him. And before you neg away at the thought of the 3-3-5, know that Iowa st's version is NOTHING like Don browns or GERGs; it being studied by college and NFL coordinators alike as a way to combat spread offenses, which we do oh so great against.....

commit to Maryland??? what kind of idiot wants to go play LB there. GL to the kid if he does playing for a school that plays no defense.

Well apparently we don't play defense either so.....

I'm not saying Maryland is a great option, but from everything I've heard, Locksley is a hell of a recruiter and knows how to get kids on campus. Coaching them up is a different story, but its not surprising to see him getting the interest of kids who would otherwise have no interest in Maryland.

Calm down chicken little.

There's no one in this class to get that shaken up about.

You're going to have defections whether he stays or goes. I don't think the AD significantly impacts that either way.

The concern should be not turning this into a 2 year recruiting disaster by a window dressing extension and then firing him a year later. Shit or get off the pot.

I have no idea if this is true or not, but news like this is only going to get worse before it gets better. Even if Harbaugh stays, there’s going to be kids (like Worthy) who decide to jump ship because they took one look at this season and just said “Hell no, this is not what I’m signing up for.” or “I’d rather go somewhere that knows how to utilize my talent properly.”

I feel bad for him. He could be playing for a great defense on a team that is favored to win a national championship right now, while also lining himself up to be a first round pick after next season.

Instead, he's stuck on an atrocious defense with a team that can't do anything right, and he's been unable to really get his name out there for for draft scouts.

I wonder if he has any regrets about his choice.

To have an AD and Head Football Coach that act and believe this way is a result of the higher ups in the administration.  This type of believe in the way things are done comes from the board of regents, university administration and donors.  They hire people like Warde and Harbaugh.  Michigan has been arrogant, stubborn and irresponsible for a long time.  As a lifelong Michigan fan it very bothersome and disappointing that Michigan won't adjust the way they do business and evolve like the rest of us.  We could've had an athletic director like Scott Strickland from Mississippi State.  Dan Mullen as a Head Coach.  I use those examples because I live in Florida and watched the Gator administration go out and get the best available athletic director.  He replaced Jeremy Foley who was probably the best athletic director in the country during his time.  When football is the bread and butter of your athletic department the AD and Coach must be solid.  We have Michigan men which isn't always the best way to do business.  If I had to pick one word to describe Michigan the word would be Arrogance.

Making the correct hire is far more important than this cycle's recruiting class.

With that being said, I have no confidence that actually happens.

I am interested in what route you think Warde should have pursued that will resolve the coaching issue and give recruits certainty.  Seems to me the options for Warde were:

1) Announce he intends to bring Harbaugh back

2) Fire Harbaugh, pay buyout and hope he can land a good replacement.

3)  Bide time, use back door channels to line someone up.  If he can't get assurances on a replacement he likes then extend Harbaugh.  This also allows Harbaugh to find another job giving him a soft landing and saving M buyout money.

If you want Harbaugh gone then 1 isn't an option.  Unfortunately, both options 2 & 3 leave uncertainty for recruits.  Some of you seem to be living in a dream land where Warde could have gotten rid of Harbaugh and announced a replacement yesterday.  Any coach they might want is likely still in season and really can't be officially signed up and announced for awhile.  So wait or extend Harbaugh.

How does the "EVERY RECRUIT SHOULD BE A FIVE STAR RABBLE RABBLE RABBLE" section of the fanbase feel about this?  I mean the kid is only a four star iirc and as a result is CLEARLY INFERIOR to OhIo StAtE talent.
