The bowl prep for this program has been fucking awful for 50+ years

At what point do you just do the opposite like George Costanza? Fucking absolute failure by offense and defense alike.

Clearly they keep doing something wrong. But I have no hope that anything will change. Hopefully the expanded playoffs will result in shorter schedules and Michigan never has to worry about bowl prep again.

maybe.  thats harbaugh though, thats his teams pace.

its been said but 2 pick 6's, multiple red zone turnovers, missed assignments, sloppy play all around - people mentioning officials or this or that but they didnt deserve to win.

bo stinking in bowls has little correlation to harbaugh but fact remains they played their worst game of the year after a month of prep.  tough way for the boys to go out

Can someone figure out what our bowl record is since 1969? Cuz I dont fucking feel like it.

FUCK, WHAT AN ABSOLUTE WASTE OF A TEAM.

THANKS A FUCKING LOT, WE'RE A LAUGHING STOCK IN THE PLAYOFF

This is correct. In this respect Michigan is historically like the original cast of Saturday Night Live…Not Ready For Primetime Players. When it cuts across coaching tenures it is a culture problem. However, I will give Harbaugh and crew a pass for the last 2 years because once you get to a Final Four Play-off format it is a legitimately daunting task for any participant because you are facing the best-of-the-best. Anything can happen and you need good timing and luck as much as preparation.

No excuses whatsoever for Bo‘s putrid record. Ironically, because it was easier to win Bo‘s era he absolutely should have taken it more seriously and considered the bowls as legitimate championship opportunities and not just glorified exhibitions and rewards for regular season success. Perhaps we would have had a couple more mythical national titles to claim.

beating ohio is like a bowl game.  beat them 2x/row

winning the B10 is like a bowl game.  won it 2x in a row.

stop sniveling.  weird game, had a TD taken away and a clear targeting blown off, among many, many other calls.

We'll have the inevitable search for scapegoats now, because that's what little minds do. The truth is that we DID have a TD taken away, which would have won it despite our miscues, and that takeaway was--conversely--a pretty forgivable one, as far as bad ref calls go. The shite failure to call spearing only gets us four more plays, no promises, but--hell yes--would have been nice to have.

In the end, this isn't one to hang your head about. Nobody disgraced themselves; we played our asses off and almost got back in it. TCU played well and several very human cockups took it out of our hands.

Two pick-6’s were also daggers in what came down to a one-score game.

I also don’t care if you don’t convert the 4th down but for the love of God don’t bring out tricks just to get two yards.

Mullings fumbling on the 1/2 yard line is certainly a fluke but I would rather have Edwards in there even if he’s not a mooseback.

Lastly you needed the D to contain a lot better than they did today. They gambled too often and got burned.

Hope some of the bigger names come back but getting this close and laying an egg is an absolute horrifying for future big games.

I mostly agree. The refs fucked us and I will absolutely scream about it. But we also came out flat and cocky and cute and it cost us. They are both but-for causes of the loss. I'm dumbfounded by so many things about this game, the redzone game plan chief among them. Did Edwards get any carries inside the 5? I can't remember any. It felt like we just ran gadget plays and runs to Mullings.

up until the CFP, 'bowl games' were all basically vanity/fun diversions.  you played your league games, got chosen for a bowl and went and had some fun.  as the years have gone on, they have less and less importance.  my point is that beating ohio is better than, say, going to the rose bowl and playing utah or WSU or UCLA, etc.   my point is that playing in (and winning) two B10 championship games is just like that extra 'bowl game' you are fixated upon, but the B10 CG is actually better and more rewarding.   going to the CFP is like having a second or third 'bowl game'.

wish we won last night.  the kids had a great year though and i'm happy with what we did.

Ok man and I ask objectively because you’ve been around.

1. 4th and 2 With the nations best offensive line for the second year and we do a trick play. Is that the right call?.

2. We wait to introduce the quarterback run game until 20 minutes left in the game down 2 1/2 scores.

3. We run into the boundary and motion away the extra block on any down and short  when they’re in zone when it is obvious they know what we’re doing…

4. I can go on.

What bugs me more than anything is that they abandoned their identity on both sides of the ball, but especially on defense. Why the fuck were we zero blitzing, blitzing from depth and playing away from what they had success with all year? I am, however, glad that they fought until the end. Officiating in football, especially college, has to be fixed. If you aren't going to call blatant, to the letter of the fucking rule, targeting than why bother? Spots were terrible, and of course the few times it matters it hurts Michigan on top of their own self inflicted issues.

Yes, for the 53 years I've been watching, Michigan has more often than not played down to its competition--performing well when an underdog, miserably when favored (for at least three quarters--too late for a furious comeback to overcome the initial deficit).  It's a psychological problem and is rooted, I suspect, in a culture in which people are encouraged to believe you've already made it simply by being in a maize and blue uniform.  Teams play as if they ought to win just because they show up.  No sense of having to fight for every inch and every point.

Maybe the football team ought to be coached by one or more of the academic departments...
