Book a stay on the Goodyear Blimp courtesy AirBnB for the M-ND game

If you've ever had the urge stay overnight in a massive blimp, here's your chance. University of Michigan fans can book a one-night stay in the iconic Goodyear Blimp at its hangar in Mogadore, Ohio, before it takes flight to head to Michigan Stadium in Ann Arbor to catch aerial footage of the UM-Notre Dame football game Oct. 26.

For the first time, the Goodyear Blimp has been listed on San Francisco-based Airbnb's website, with availability Oct. 22-24. Fans can begin booking the airship for one-night stays hosted by Goodyear Chief Pilot Jerry Hissem starting Oct. 15, according to a news release. In celebration of the 150th anniversary of college football, a one-night stay in the blimp is $150, plus taxes and fees. Later this year, the blimp will be inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame. It will be the first nonplayer or coach to receive the honor.

The blimp's gondola has been decked out with a bed, couch and cozy sitting corner. Guests will have access to the Goodyear hangar, which is big enough to "field a 99-yard pass," according to the listing. Other features include a football lounge, a lakefront area with a fire pit, grill, cornhole game and "other tailgate essentials," the release said. The gondola accommodates two guests overnight, but it can fit up to four people during the festivities. Both guests will receive prime tickets to the Oct. 26 game.

As part of the listing, Akron, Ohio-based Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co. and Airbnb are donating $5,000 to the Texas-based Cotton Bowl Foundation, which supports underserved youth in North Texas. The blimp has flown above sports and entertainment events more than 2,000 times since it began offering aerial game coverage in 1955.

Stay the night in the blimp and hang out by the hangar?  Neat.

Ride around in it watching the M v ND game from above the stadium?  Fucking bad ass.

My dad was an accountant for Goodyear for 37 years.  I got to ride in the old silver and black "Black Sunday" version in the late '70s.  It's cool but not as cool as a helicopter ride through buildings at night, which I did in Vegas.

Creepy...

So I pay to stay on the blimp while it's grounded in the hangar, which is a wide open facility where technicians and mechanics come and go...meanwhile I'm in bed with my girlfriend surrounded by windows (mirrors I'll take). Not only does it look uncomfortable, it just seems creepy.

Now... staying on the blimp for a game, and having an iPad stream it while I'm observing from above sounds somewhat fun. However, no take out, or order out, what happens if you run out of beer? Where's the toilet when I need to break the seal? Do I urinate out the side of the blimp on the crowd? What if I have to pinch a loaf? Would this be considered death from above, an air raid, or a brown out?

This looks cool in theory alone.
