Blake Corum is PFFs highest rated player at any position
"Corum is considered among many as one of the top Heisman contenders and leads all FBS running backs in rushing first downs. The elite RB is leading in touchdowns and points scored, and his 1,187 yards is good enough for No. 4 in the nation. In the Week 9 win over Michigan State, Corum also surpassed the 1,000-yard rushing mark on the season."

Certainly that's a typo, right? I think what you meant was "Blake Corum *projected* to be the highest rated player at any position following his completion of the 2023 season at the University of Michigan."
November 8th, 2022 at 5:20 PM ^
No, the article lists him as currently the highest rated player by PFF in the country at any position.

Oh, Denard...
November 8th, 2022 at 5:32 PM ^
That is correct. Also nice to see PFF bring more attention to his blocking. PFF should grade his center of gravity too. LOW MAN WINS! People still use that phrase right?
November 8th, 2022 at 6:05 PM ^
All this stuff, but Blake is just so fucking smart, too. I mean, the guy just brings the right move to so many situations, making decisions so quickly. I hope a team like Baltimore can get him, so that he won't be wasted for a second in the NFL.

#1 in our hearts.

These articles are what keep buckeye awake at night.
November 8th, 2022 at 5:43 PM ^
PFF's OL grading is just a charitable ruse to keep them from full blown night terrors.

I would have guessed Moody.

Even "Reverse Cowgirl"? I find that hard to believe...

hard left turn...down the internet hole we go....

That Blake Corum guy does seem pretty god, yeah...
Our guy, who is name is Blonk Corden and also wears #2, is certainly not as good as that guy. Certainly not good enough to go to the NFL next year.

“That Blake Corum guy does seem pretty god”
Hey now let’s not veer into outright blasphemy
November 8th, 2022 at 6:08 PM ^
That is fantastic. Watching Blake play as hard and as well as he does has been an utter joy this season. Makes sense.

What's a PFF?
November 8th, 2022 at 6:25 PM ^
Pro Football Focus, a site that tracks statistics and grades players, teams, and positions.

Corum is The Chosen One
November 8th, 2022 at 6:50 PM ^
Great player and great person.
November 8th, 2022 at 6:51 PM ^
Too short, though.
Right, NFL?
November 9th, 2022 at 8:31 AM ^
I certainly hope the NFL is aware that Blake is expected to grow another 4” next year, providing he’s in a stable collegiate environment.
November 8th, 2022 at 6:54 PM ^
Well yeah of course he is. He has to make plays behind this terrible run blocking offensive line in order to gain any yards.
November 8th, 2022 at 7:00 PM ^
Especially impressive considering how PFF under ranks our OL every week. I think he's clearly better than Henry or Ingram.
November 8th, 2022 at 8:55 PM ^
I think their OL ratings and Corum's ratings are inversely correlated
They must be saying Corum is getting points for making the plays, rather than his blockers
Only plausible explanation
November 9th, 2022 at 12:05 AM ^
Lets not get crazy, he's having a great year. Henry and Ingrahm faced much much tougher competition along the way.
November 9th, 2022 at 5:35 AM ^
Henry rushed for 2219 yards in his Heisman year on 395 carries through 15 games in a season that Bama won a national championship. He had 3 NFL lineman to run behind but a QB that wasn't even drafted. So, he was absolutely carrying the load at a clip of 26 carries / game.
Corum is awesome, but Henry's 2015 season was fantastic. Right now, Blake has 1187 yards on about half the carries (199) or 22 / game.
Blake can do some things that Derrick cannot, like make players completely whiff in space, while still being able to run violently like Derrick. However, I wouldn't put Blake's year ahead of Henry just yet, but I hope that we all will after the next 6 games.
November 9th, 2022 at 8:31 AM ^
…after the next 6 games.
No more, no less.
November 8th, 2022 at 8:50 PM ^
I hope the NFL scouts say he's too short for the NFL (a la Mike Hart) so he will stay forrrrrrrr ever, and ever, and ever, and ever, and ever...(repeat to infinite)
November 8th, 2022 at 9:49 PM ^
Gonna make for a hellava highlight reel at the banquet.
November 9th, 2022 at 12:04 AM ^
I mean, yeah.
November 9th, 2022 at 1:43 AM ^
Corum is the best RB and should be the Heisman favorite based solely on his consistent production and mistake free play, in an otherwise up and down year for other candidates.
That being said, PFF's offensive line rankings are suspect (note they had Michigan ranked lower than MSU) and they have been consistently ranking our RBs high to compensate for the net positivity of our running game. I don't give this ranking much credence due to the attribution of positives to RB v. OL, but Corum still deserves credit for picking the right gaps, driving through defenders, blocking and generally doing RB things exceptionally well.
November 9th, 2022 at 10:09 AM ^
All praises to Corum, but PFF has him leading over Cincinnati DL/name of the year candidate Dontay Corleone. That seems, uh, dangerous to have anyone but the Don win the Heisman.
