Big Ten teams were allowed to schedule OOC games this week?
I thought I heard Jim Delany say that Big Ten teams were allowed to schedule Out of Conference games for this week because of the early Big Ten finish, but none did.
Am I confused, or was that the actual policy?
In any case, what are the restrictions on inter-team scrimmages when the CBB season is still technically going on?
Can players/coaches from a non conference team that is completely done with its season play in a scrimmage against Michigan, even an informal one?
I guess that Beilein and the rest of the Big ten coaches would rather have the extra rest and internal practice, but I'm curious what all the options were.
Maybe they can scrimmage UofD and start each half already in the bonus. That would allow them plenty of time to practice shooting free throws.
Is there any update on Livers's ankle?
I don't have one, but an update on ScottyP's liver, not good after this weekend, not good.
Still, I’m sure the 10 days will do him well.
Josh on 247 said it was minor and he would be fine.
I know that some conference teams have played "non-conference" games against each other in the past few years due to scheduling difficulties. I forget what the examples were, but I remember seeing it.
Michigan and Michigan state are playing a non-conference baseball game this year. Different sport and all but still happening.
...their scrimmages at the start of the season. Can't do another one. Best they can do is practice among themselves. I don't think this is a bad thing--Beilein mentioned working on skills and addressing the bad habits of some players, so they'll have plenty of time for that.
Do it.
Z makes 100 in a row or everyone runs Big House stairs.
Call it a "joint practice" with one of the other tournament-bound B1G teams, and the drill we are running at the joint practice is 5 on 5. And also the joint practice is open to the public. Could they stop that? I guess probably.
The only option would be a team from a small conference who finished their tournament this past weekend like Radford. The problem is the game probably needs to be scheduled well in advance so neither team plays their limit number of games ahead of time and you have no idea who will be in the tournament.
Imagine you're Minnesota (preseason ranked #15) and you schedule one of the OOC games to tune up for the tournament. Season doesn't go as planned , you lose in the B1G tournament, are not getting an at-large bid and now you have to play your senior day game against a bodybag team? No thanks.
available?
