No point in waiting around.  The SEC game is over.

If we win, even in a close game, we are #2 in the CFP.

How will we do the delicate mix of not messing around and win the game, and resting key players and keeping them from injury?

EVERY SINGLE CONFERNECE CHAMPIONSHIP GAME HAS RESULTED IN A SIGNIFICANT QB INJURY.

Absolutely none. If they did that they would be breaking all previous precedent regarding conference championship games. They set that precedent in the past by having idle teams move into the field after a loss.
