Big House Expansion??
So with the new facility upgrades that have been announced I saw that almost every sports facility is up for some work accept the BIG HOUSE. I know we just spent like 250 mil on the upgrades and boxes just a couple years ago, but I thought I heard some news of some seating going in the voids between the new score boards and the boxes?? I figured that this would be included in this new 7-10 year plan, but did not see it on he website. Does anyone know anything more about it??
Lambeau Field which has a very similar design to Michigane stadium is putting in an addition much like what I think DB would be thinking of doing. Just a little look see . . .

That's just silly. You can't say, "So I know we just had a 250 million dollar expansion, but when's the next one coming?" Are we already taking the boxes for granted? Yeah, DB mentioned filling in the gaps, but that was just a "sometime in the future we'll think about this" thing, hold your horses there
Also, it's *except the Big House, not accept the Big House

Your lack of vision is what's silly. I'm about to fire up a Kickstarter campaign to get the Big House to one million (and one) seats. Come on, Brandon -- it's time to show the world the size of our balls.
September 14th, 2012 at 12:28 AM ^
If your balls are indeed that big, you may want to allow for seat widening in your million seat campaign. There's not room down there for much on gamedays.
September 14th, 2012 at 12:47 AM ^
No. The stadium should seat 300 million. Because every American should be a Michigan fan, godammit.

Now hold on -- we need some people to be tsio fans just for hatred's sake. Plus, the illiterate, unwashed masses of northeast Ohio are not welcome among Michigan fans (unless they are 4 or 5* athletes, of course.)

I've been wondering about this as well. There were a few threads about it awhile ago.

I wouldn't mind it as long as that entire metal framework in the middle is turned into a giant video board. That would make it worth it

Soon to be the MEGA BIG HOUSE
This stadium is now the ultimate power in the country! I suggest we expand it....

We could also dress Norfleet up in an Ewok costume.

the snack cake games. That would prob actually detract from the brand.

designed to try and hold more noise in. The luxury boxes do make it a little louder, but I'm all for making it a raucous stadium.

Fielding H Yost wanted the stadium reinforced so that it could someday hold up to 150,000. If it's good enough for Fielding H Yost, it's good enough for me.

...but let's worry about filling what we have right now on a game-in/game-out basis. I love Ann Arbor, Michigan...but we can only host so many people in this economy, with this location, etc.
With that said, until we get the Chicago Maroons back on the schedule...150,000 will not be in the question. A favorite rivalry game of mine.

I would like the noize at the RAWKING Big House pls:

Rule of thumb: if a thread has multiple adjacent non-period puncuations (be it a ??, ?!, !!, etc), it is going to be a bad thread. Unless it's a drinking thread. Then it will be awesome.

You like to start new threads. Amirite?

If there's an additional 20-30,000 Michigan fans out there that want to come to the games and will if they can get tickets, I'm all for an expansion. But I have zero desire to expand for the sake of expanding, not sell out every game, or even worse, open up thousands of new seats for opposing fans to come in and use. There's enough Ohio scum that comes in for the game. Why give them more seats?
September 14th, 2012 at 7:51 AM ^
The plan has been shelved. Brandon is bringing the non-revenue sports up to top notch facilities status over the next 10 years, which is awesome for the overall Michigan brand. Remember, for every $1 Brandon spends we pay $2. I'm in no hurry to see ticket prices climb even higher.
September 14th, 2012 at 8:11 AM ^
At the current rate of expansion, Crisler will become the southwest mezzanine of Michigan Stadium by 2020. Further, Facilities Services will then have its administrative offices completely inside Concession Stand 9 behind Section 42 and the south scoreboard will be situated just across the street from Busch's.
