I really, really wish we could have added another tackle while keeping Doyle and Ekiyor. Another DT would have been nice.

Having said that: I really, really like a lot of players we did get. Mayfield, McGrone, Bell, Hutchinson, Ryan Hayes, all the TE's, Milton, Turner, Barrett... I like it. Obvious holes on the o-line for sure-- and that it hard to ignore-- but I think this class has a load of future quality starters.

And didn't get it done. Hard to believe with the chance for sooner than later playing time we can't seal the deal.

Brdeson played as a freshman due to injury

Onwenu dabbled in playing time to be ready in 2017, just like Ruiz did last year

we red-shirted 4 OL last year - I doubt they put a freshman in over those guys

interior DL?  yes, some rotation time is available - this all depends on who can play where with all the DL talent we have

there isn't a lot of early playing time for these freshman - they could all red-shirt to be honest - they all won't of course, but they could

I know people are disappointed on a few fronts, but there is a ton of talent in this class and several players who I think will be really good for us.

MSU and Wisconsin compete for Big 10 titles every year with recruiting classes worse than what we pulled in this year. I understand it makes it more difficult but also doesn't mean we're doomed. There is enough talent in this class to compete and win in the future.

and therein lies the problem. You can sign all the skill players you want, but if you don't have the big uglies to block and pass protect (and you can't coach up the ones you have like other teams seem to) then the skills won't have enough time.

There is one OL in the class. Does anyone feel the gaping hole is filled?

Very few "generic" 3-stars in this class.  They're almost all fliers, hit-or-miss guys with intriguing qualities.  Which means we can expect a lot of them to not pan out, and a few of them to blow up.  Milton is the microcosm of this class, if on the extreme end -- maybe a 90% chance he'll be a dud, and 10% chance he'll be a first round draft pick.  Neither would be surprising but I advise against a homer's bet.

Since the last two classes were so deep, I think that was the plan after they missed all their top targets. The program really doesn't need warm bodies right now; and if there was any way to make the most of the 3-stars interested in Michigan, this would be it.

Its time we get some bagmen. Our alumni have as deep of pockets as anybody.

Instead of trips to Paris we could have a top 3 class every year
