B1G Sends Notice of Potential Disciplinary Action [title edited]

Looks like it was confirmed that the league has notified the school that it is likely that it will impose some sort of punishment.  Next few days are about to get real interesting.

That's not how it works.  They don't collude that overtly.

Ref jobs are tentative and at the pleasure of the Big Ten.  The Big Ten just has to message ever so slightly which team displeases them.  When a 50/50 call arises (there a ton of these in football) the ref knows which side he should come down on if he wants a future.

Alternate title:

"B1G leadership decides mob rule makes for good decision making.  Decides to pursue disciplinary action against Harbaugh despite being told by NCAA there is no evidence tying Harbaugh to Stallion's actions"

Sooo they still sent that after everything that came out today? Wtf is going on.
and how long does it take to get an injunction from court?

Without a disciplinary action from the league it might be premature to file for an injunction -- injuries to the football program would still be speculative.  But when it comes to it with a strong enough case, U of M could probably get a TRO the same day or the following morning.

I’m assuming the timing of all of these things is not coincidental. University got the notice from the B1G, and then told their media connects to run with their stories. Am I missing something?

With the story breaking of multiple big ten teams conspiring to steal Michigan's signs, feels like the narrative of this being an egregious advantage is dead. And the idea that this is egregious cheating is false. And the schools that have pushed for this are clearly not bent on justice but just their own advantage.

The strangest part of it is that that info was shared with Pettitti on Friday and he's still pushing for this on Monday.

Yea before this news broke, I thought he was really reaching for a fight against one of his top 2 schools that makes the conference what it is. But now, knowing what he knew....What is he doing?

Like, even if this action somehow was allowed while CS's were somehow not, why would you be even mentioning an indefinite suspension? The crime here is, as described by the NCAA, minimal, with minimal advantage.

It wouldn’t be mad if a source leaks “exploratory conversations” with the ACC. It’s a good cultural fit now that Stanford and Cal have moved there.

It is true that the league needs Michigan. I’m just not sure if Michigan needs the b1g more than b1g needs Michigan.

Michgan could possibly get a sweetheart Texas Big 12 deal w the acc. It could be a situation where ‘you show your gun, you better be ready to pull the trigger’ situation.

This is all pie in the sky right now though.

No, we should call Stanford, Cal, and USC, UCLA, Washington (all serious academic schools), Oregon, OSU, WSU and maybe bring Nebraska (the least hostile to us during this mess and historic program that will come back at some point) and Northwestern (true academic school, bring along if and only if they weren't fucking with the mob) and form a new conference. I bet the networks will come rushing to sign a deal.
