Army Pre-game

Submitted by umbig11 on September 3rd, 2019 at 7:21 PM

Michigan is going all out for this one. I am a little surprised this hasn’t been announced on MGoBlue.com yet. Edit: there is something on MGoBlue.Com, but you have to dig for it.

Michigan has been planning for this event for a long time. There will be flyovers that include Black Hawk UH-60's, Chinook CH-47's, Lakota UH-72's, Parachute Jump, and several U.S. Army static displays in and around the Stadium. The Black Hawk’s are a sight to see up close. When they come in low and slow over the scoreboards get your cell phones ready. Edit: The Black Daggers (USASOC) are doing the jump, you are in for a special treat. Beat Army x 2 this year!

C'mon, umbig11---you tease us on the "back story" and then  don't deliver???

I saw that drone overhead late in the game, it was up there above The Big House for several minutes before suddenly darting away over the south end of the stadium.

A little bit unnerving to see something like that, I was hoping it belonged to law enforcement and was legit rather than an unauthorized flyover.

It was definitely not law enforcement. That thing had some messages on it and dropped some pamphlets. Two were arrested within 24 hours. People need to understand the FAA, Michigan, and no-fly zones. State, local, and Federal took this one very seriously. It was huge.

Blackhawks flew over Canton stadium when I went to watch Art Monk and Darrell Green get inducted into the hall of fame and it was the coolest fly over I've ever seen at a event. Really awesome to see in person.

We got a bootlegged copy of team America world police from an Iraqi and watched it just about everyday for a few weeks while cleaning our weapons after various missions. You would think we would have gotten bored because people in the theatre kept walking in front of the camera throughout the movie and the camera was slightly tilted. But it took us a surprisingly long time to eventually stop watching it.

You will know army went all out if you can't hear the Helos.

Also, demonstrating to 110k fans with millions on the network is a good use of funds from the mil perspective. You want it to be good people with guns, if any at all.

Awesome news.

Two questions:  1)  will there be a way to see the pregame on tv or otherwise remotely?  2)  How were you able to edit the OP?!

Going to be tough to beat the first time Rocketman entered Michigan Stadium and hovered over the students.  To date that is the best pre-game moment I have seen in 28 years of attendance.

Easy to beat the second Rocketman show with a bullshit skit on the video board and inclusion of the drunk ass school president and ego maniac athletic director.

Looking forward to pre-game Saturday!!

I'm glad that I'm not the only one with this perspective.  And its not just college football.  MLB and NFL are awash in sponsorship dollars from the US Military.  https://www.wbur.org/onlyagame/2018/07/20/military-sports-astore-francona

As an engineer, I can appreciate a fighter jet more than most, but let us not forget what those devices are -- implements of destruction.

I truly appreciate the sacrifice the men and women of the military are willing to make.  I don't appreciate what our politicians are asking our military to do. And putting the military front and center in the public is an effort to desensitize the public of what our military is doing around the world in our name.
