Are you worried about Signing Day?
I'm not worried about Signing Day, and here's why.
We got "HOWBOW." You know who I'm talking about.
So even if we whiff on every guy that we're currently in play for -- Chris Clark, Mike Weber, Iman Marshall, etc. -- I'm still not going to freak out. Some of you may freak out. Some may look at this class that could very well end up with only 10 kids and say "But... we... Harbaugh... how can we not get anyone? It's... Harbaugh!"
And to those of you who say that and are disappointed come this time tomorrow, I was never expecting much of this class. The more important thing was getting the right coach, and we did. Everyone made such a big deal about Hoke's first class, but that one, like every coach's first class when he only has a month to do stuff, is going to mainly be patchwork. It's going to be cobbled together.
"But what about Urban Meyer? He came in and flipped a ton of five-stars on his first Signing Day!" Meyer was also hired the day after the Michigan game and was allowed to recruit with a recruiting staff already in place while he hired his coaches. Harbaugh was hired more than a month after the Ohio State game and spent the first weeks recruiting by himself and pulling together a staff. Meyer's entrance to Columbus was an anamoly different from even typical anamolies.
To me, the bigger deal is going to be Signing Day 2016, Harbaugh's first official class where he has a whole year to establish relationships with recruits. If he doesn't at least pull in a top ten class (top five?), then yeah I'm going to be disappointed. But this year? I'm honestly happy with whoever he gets. We aren't quite as desperate for talent across the board.
So those are my thoughts on the eve before Signing day. Neg all you want if you feel this was pointless (welcome to the internet), but I posted it because I see some folks out there who are getting a little anxious about signing day. Which makes sense, being sports fans. Still, regardless of what happens tomorrow, enjoy the ride. Surprise star signings or no surprise star signings.
Because one guy who for sure is signed... is HOWBOW.
So GO HOWBOW, and Go Blue

good day.
Hope we pick up a CB - definitely need a Marshall in town!

I am worried about the hamsters that run Mgo's servers. That's all I am worried about.
A wise man once said "What will happen will happen, what won't happen won't happen." I'll go with that tomorrow.
If the cost was 0 recruits to get JH in 2015, I'd do the trade. This program needed an enema - it got it. Whatever the short term cost - if any - I'll accept.

Hamsters? Has there been an upgrade?
February 3rd, 2015 at 11:25 PM ^
Yeah they upgraded to Guinea Pigs. Given the sluggishness of this website lately, they might want to get a refund...

We got the most important piece. Now let him build Zion!

Some activity with Joshua Alabi. 5 crystal ball preditions to Miami (YTM) made today. If one of Weber's best friends is not going to go to osu, then it has to increase our chances to flip him.
February 3rd, 2015 at 11:29 PM ^
He is a 3 star in a loaded class that is already over by 4 players with OSU trying to (as of yesterday) add 2 more. Much like Dan Mullen did with the grayshirt offer to a current recruit as Miss State got better recruits due to their season, I could see Meyer "pushing" Alabi along to help create room.
February 4th, 2015 at 6:30 AM ^
Good point. OSU has 4 DEs in this class and Alabi is ranked 4th of 4 per rivals. It may be in his best interest to move on for playing time...that and he would have to live in Ohio for 4 years.

Just don't do it. Please. In fact, don't tweet at kids ever. Even if they are really good at football.

I think we will pick up 2 to 5 good players on NSD. Even if it is on the low side, Harbaugh will do a much better job in 2016. It would not surprise me if Harbaugh ends up winning 10 games next season! I would normally just say 7 or 8 wins but I think Harbaugh and his coaches will do a fine job with the good talent that is still on the team. Getting 10 wins and a BCS bowl game will show 2016 recruits that Harbaugh is on the corner of building a dynasty at Michigan. This will bring top recruits in droves in 2016! The future is bright even if we whiff on all the recruits since we got our coach Jim Harbaugh!

No time for worries...busy hanging my MgoBlue Stockings on the chimney with care, in hopes that soon St. James will fill them with Blue Chips, Stalwarts and Warriors to take back Christmas from those angry, ugly grinches Dantonio and Meyers...

picked up a lot of guys who were considered Ohio State leans long before he was hired. The guy can flat out recruit, but if we get Weber, Jefferson, and/or Wheatley after already having grabbed Gentry and Jones, that'd be equally as impressive in my book.
February 4th, 2015 at 12:21 AM ^
that work will significantly hinder the amount of time I will be able to spend following today's action. Harbaugh on!

not particularly

so no, I'm not at all worried.
Curious, yes. But we'd be much improved even if we took in a class of zero players for 2015.
February 4th, 2015 at 12:58 AM ^
Nope. Recruiting is recruiting. We're going to get who we're going to get. It's what happens when the teenagers show up on campus that I actually care about.

I think we all sort of expected this to be a 'lost class' on some level (Small, during a coaching transition) so any bad news is whatever news and any good news is great news. This is an elite coaching staff and will land an elite recruiting class in 2016 as far as I'm concerned. Everything today is house money

I would also throw myself in the "not worried" camp.
For us, mainly due to the coaching changes, it was a rather short cycle even though we did have a small base of committed recruits already. What this staff has attempted to do in a few short weeks is remarkable, and I've sort of told myself that if we get some of these more prized targets, that's awesome, but if not, there's no reason to be frustrated. This staff has shown us already how hard they intend to recruit going forward, and it can only mean good things really.
February 4th, 2015 at 7:57 AM ^
Worried? Not in the least...this is just the beginning...the beginning of the reawakening of a sleeping giant. Time to lift this fucking cloud that's been hovering over the program for the last decade.
February 4th, 2015 at 8:00 AM ^
Our next year's season will not depend at all on how the 2015 class turns out. We will have more than enough talent this next season to have a solid winning year. Recruiting success is something you build up based on a number of factors, one of which is obviously winning games. Harbaugh will soon bring Michigan to an elite recruiting level. But everyone needs to have patience since the last two years on the field set us back.
February 4th, 2015 at 9:20 AM ^
No. This coaching staff did the best in the time that they had.
It isn't easy to get guys, who are probably strong-willed to start with, and who are committed elsewhere to switch their committments.
They'll be fine. Coach up what they got and what they get and they'll be better next year and the year after that.
