Anyone Watching Football? Having an Adult Beverage?

Submitted by Hammer of Thor on October 8th, 2021 at 7:24 PM

Temple vs #5 Cincinnati 7 PM

Charlotte vs FIU 7 PM

Morgan State vs HOward 8:15 PM

Stanford vs ASU 10:30 PM

I spent 4 years in Cincy studying at the Conservatory of Music. Stayed another 4 years after that - great town! In fact it was barely Ohio, which was nice.

It's amazing seeing Nippert full of fans. I was never able to witness that in the late 90's.

Enjoy some football and evening libations, all!

We also have Temple / Cincinnati on here.

Unfortunately, my days of adult beverages are over for reasons I've shared here before (with a super bonus discussion on Twitter a few months ago). There are fake adult beverages fortunately, as well as Diet Coke.

Damn, I was about to start this damn thread. It's about time. I'm sitting sober in my "East Lansing is a Women of Negotiable Affection" t-shirt about to pick up some IPAs. It's time to fucking drink!

Made with actual cherries? The last time I had a Sam Adams beer with cherry they used artificial flavoring and it had a bit too much of that cough syrup aftertaste. Otherwise a decent beer, though. (Disclaimer: my body starts to attack itself when I eat gluten, so I haven't had real beer in almost a decade at this point.)

I lived in Cincinnati briefly, I still have some friends there and I enjoy visiting. It's much better than Columbus, which has grown a lot over the last thirty years or so. Unfortunately I spend much more time in Columbus because it's on the way to my mother-in-law.

Enjoying a Jackie O's Bourbon Barrel Aged Black Maple now listening to some Ween after an afternoon of doing a mock voir dire for an upcoming trial. Voir dire is by far the most difficult part of trial (for me at least) and I'm glad I have that part of this trial pretty nailed down ~1.5 months out from trial. Go blue and beat the Cornhuskers!

I'm flipping back and forth between the Rays v Sox game and the UC Temple game.

So in about 5 years after Fickle is coaching somewhere else, we're gonna find out that UC was paying these players and all these wins are going to have to be vacated?

I refuse to believe that he is that good of a coach

Cincinnati is a good stepping stone for ambitious coaches. They've scheduled games against P5 opponents (both Michigan and Ohio State recently, along with a good chunk of the B1G over the last twenty years), but at the same time their conference schedule is weak enough that if they have a half-way decent team they can win a lot of games.

They've managed to move a number of coaches onto bigger and better things in recent years. Some of them have been successful (Mark Dantonio and Brian Kelly) and others not so much (Butch Jones).

(Hotel Putingrad brought up Tommy Tuberville, who was definitely an exception to the up-and-coming coaches they've been hiring. Tuberville managed nine wins his first two years and four wins his last two.)

Got Cincy/Temple on as a visual thing. The real action: listening to Propellerheads and enjoying some Long Trails (Vermont's finest). About to chew on part of a huge mushroom cap and catch a friend's jazz combo in town.

I know they are now up 17-3 but Cinci sure doesn't look too great in this game. That muffed punt was useful for them.

Welp: Stopped watching after that returned opening kick of second half and looks like not exactly struggling. Definitely a good defense.

I currently live in Rome, Georgia. We have a minor league affiliate in town, which totally got me back into baseball.

On a Delta flight in recently watched, “Long Gone, Summer”. McGwire and Sosa’s HR tilt chronicled in a super inspiring documentary. Highly recommend it.

Also, love laguinitas. Good choice.

Drinking All Day IPA and as a Temple alum watching this team will compel me to drink several...

How I miss you Al Golden, Matt Rhule at 10th and Diamond. Not you, Steve Addazio.

was looking at tomorrow's CFB line-up.  interested to see if rutgers can give sparty trouble, sparty being a 4.5 pt favorite.  PSU v. iowa should be good.   but i just noticed that the michigan v. nebraska line went down us being to 2.5 pt favorites.  i get that nebraska deserves more respect than their record indicates, but us being only a 2.5 pt favorite seems like a very slim margin.
