Anthony, Benny, Edwards are Now the Answer to a Great Trivia Question
Q: Not counting all-star games, who are the only players to have played in a football game for both their high school and the University of Michigan in the same calendar year?
A: Andrel Anthony, Rayshaun Benny and Donovan Edwards, 2021.
All three played in the MHSAA playoffs back in January, and all three played for Michigan on Saturday. I don't believe that any of the other true freshmen who played on Saturday can say the same thing, but please correct me if I'm wrong.
And if anyone can find another case in history where this happened, I shall stand corrected!

You forgot to answer in the form of a question...
"Who are recruits that MSU thought they had, but then SPARTY NO"

Obviously it was in garbage time, but I like hearing that Benny got some snaps. His development and becoming an impact player as soon as next season can quickly change the outlook.

Gavin Wimsatt might do it in the same season for Rutgers!

As this is strictly a trivia thread, I’ll just throw out another point of trivia that it reminds me of: Magic Johnson played on State, National and NBA championship teams in the span of four years.

The Charles Woodson of basketball but mostly forgotten. He had Trey Burkes best game of his career for all 6 tournament games. Kind of crazy.

Still has the record for most points in a single tourney? I believe he had the most 3s as well?

I believe this is critical to the development of young players. I believe, from a coaching strategy, not giving young players more on-field time when the game has already been decided has been a major fault of the Harbaugh era. There is nothing more instructive for a young player than getting past the excitement and anxiety of "first-time" action and being a part of live play. They then practice with more purpose going forward as well as being, mentally, better prepared for that next opportunity.
