Afternoon (Are you) Drinking/Football thread

Submitted by Gobgoblue on

Conference championship Saturday!  No Michigan, but I think we all came to terms with that a while ago.  I just cracked open a Winter White Ale.  I'll probably open up a Founders Double Trouble later.

The SEC championship starts in a few minutes here.  I think it will be ugly, but here's hoping Mizzou can make a game of it.

Happy weekend everyone!  Hope everyone has a great one.  Everyone make sure to raise their first drink to Ace.

And finally . . . Go Badgers!

We'll use this thread as it combines your idea with the football talk, hopefully to get our mind off the basketball talk because.....well, anyway.

All good ideas this afternoon - drinking while watching championship games, drinking to forget NJIT, drinking because....

There just aren't enough teams to compete with them.  It looks like they'll win another national title this year, which will be 4 of the last 6.  That kind of domination makes the sport less interesting, especially when it's fueled by some very shady practices.

I have this vision of Mizzou wishing they'd tanked the season after this game, but that's just me perhaps.

OSU beating a #13 Wisconsin is a hell of a lot more impressive than beating a 2-10 Iowa State.  I think if OSU wins they're in, but I also think they need Baylor to beat KSU.  That would give TCU 0 wins over top 10 (maybe even top 15) teams. Not to mention OSU would have beaten 9 bowl eligible teams compared to 5 for TCU.

I don't think they'll beat Wisconsin, so it's probably a moot arguement anyway.

It isn't a one game season. Also OSU losing to VT is a whole lot worse than TCU losing to Baylor.

The only team that might jump TCU is Baylor.  There is no chance OSU jumps TCU.

Also beating bowl eligible teams doesn't mean much when there are about 80 of them.  OSU would have 3 wins over Power 5 teams that won at least 8 game the same as TCU.

Off topic - somewhat - I saw online that Mitch will be playing for OKC's D-league team soon. Not being a big NBA guy -- is this like starting off in the minors when coming off an injury in the MLB or possibly a more season-long thing?

such a flawed team - bad kicker, backs go down too easily, QB is shaky, defense was awful last week -

of course, I'd kill to have those problems, but please, Bama just do enough and get one of those 4 spots.
