#6 Wrestling slams Spartans, 39-3 for 8th straight win in series
The crowd was sparse due to the snow storm, but that didn't faze the #6 Wolverine grapplers.
Michigan took on pitiful MSU today on this rivalry week, searching for their 70th win all-time in the series.
The search didn't last very long. If it weren't for Drew Mattin being upset in the opening match at 125, Michigan would have shut out MSU for the first time since 1938.
Michigan dominated as they always do against MSU, taking the rest of the 9 matches. 3 of the victories coming on pinfall victories.
The results-
Class | Result |
125 | Foley (MSU) def. #9 Drew Mattin (U-M) via decision, 10-3 |
133 | #5 Stevan Micic (U-M) def. Griffin (MSU) via pinfall |
141 | Sal Profaci (U-M) def. Gasca (MSU) via decision, 2-0 |
149 | #18 Malik Amine (U-M) def. Eicher (MSU) via decision, 7-3 |
157 | #7 Alec Pantaleo (U-M) def. Tucker (MSU) via decision, 8-4 |
165 | #9 Logan Massa (U-M) def. Hiles (MSU) via major decision, 11-2 |
174 | Garrett Sutton (U-M) def. Ritchie (MSU) via major decision, 12-3 |
184 | #5 Domenic Abounader (U-M) def. Shadaia (MSU) via pinfall |
197 | #12 Kevin Beazley (U-M) def. May (MSU) via major decision, 20-12 |
Hwt | #2 Adam Coon (U-M) def. Rebottaro (MSU) via pinfall |
The series record stands at 70-35-5 all-time. Michigan has now beaten MSU in each of the last 8 meetings. Tonight's 36-point win is the largest in the series since a 42-4 win over MSU in 1986.
Michigan is now 10-2 and 7-1 in the B1G, will wrap up B1G play on Sunday in the Clash at Crisler.
#6 Michigan will take on #2 Ohio State in Crisler Center. The dual will be at 6pm and televised on ESPN2.

Great post. This is the only way I'd ever keep tabs on our formidable grapplers. And anytime MSU loses in anything it makes me happier. Thanks, WD!

Man this duel will be a good one Sunday but we are the underdogs for sure. The rankings might be close but we are only favored in 1 weight. Need some c lo we ones to our way. Can the big man take down the reigning Olympic champ at her? Can Pantelo bring the real Pantelo to th party like in Vegas? Can we get an upset at 133, 174, or 184? Coin is weighing 305 each week which means he could be 320 in a heart beat.
