While I agree that Covid and eligibility/transfer rules are going to cause chaos.....I still don't know why it is happening right now. This has been my frustration with Dylan McCaffrey's decision.
- He won't lose his year of eligibility
- It is too late to enroll at a new team for this season
- You may have to finish the semester to maintain eligibility for your new school
Why not stay, stick it out knowing you're going to play some (either this Clemson kid or Dylan) and then as soon as the regular season ends if you're unhappy you bolt to another school to join their spring semester?
The only reason that makes sense is being paranoid about injury or Covid.....or you're just really pissed that you aren't higher on the depth chart and can't stand going to practice anymore.

A possible reason for McCaffrey, he may have to choose between graduating early or staying on the team this season. If he's going to transfer, he'd wanted to be at his new school for spring practice. Players typically take lighter class schedules in the fall. With football cancelled, it was an opportunity to take more hours.
I expect a transfer whenever a QB loses the job to a player in a class behind him. It seems to happen more often than not.
