-4 TO Margin and Michigan Won!
Michigan should be proud for fighting back after a big TO margin. Tate Foricer did a great job filling in for Denard(though it's a mystery to what happened to Denard). The offense did a fantastic job all game long.
I have to give credit for the defense for stepping up in the 2nd half. They made enough stop to keep the team in the game.
Congrats to Michigan all around!!! Enjoy the win and you're finally bowl eligible! HAIL TO THE VICTOR VALIANT!! LET'S GO BLUE!

I am happy and sad at the same time. Had to give up my tickets today to go into work.
BUT GOING BOWLING, GO BLUE!

Need a new job ;)
Those who got your tickets better owe you BIG TIME!

You are telling me. I gave them to a buddy for no price, what a friend I am.
If he wants to make it up for me, he can have 10 virgins and the Michigan game DVR'd waiting for me in my room.

That was amazing. The D did enough. Somehow.
November 6th, 2010 at 4:03 PM ^
I thought the D was damn impressive (given their past preformances, youth, the injury to Martin and the TO margin). What a win.
November 6th, 2010 at 4:07 PM ^
The defense was put in a LOT of tough spots, but it was nice to see them step up a few days after Floyd was knocked out for the season earlier in the week. I also loved to see Martin in there, he was AMAZING in this game. 50% Martin > 100% Backup
November 6th, 2010 at 4:09 PM ^
Agreed. Given the horrible position they were put in early, forcing FGs instead of TDs were huge.
I think this shows that bend-don't-break is not the best strategy. They should be selectively aggressive like they were today.
November 6th, 2010 at 3:59 PM ^
but anyway, the defense did step up (as best they were capable)
I will never doubt RichRod's credibility as an offensive genius.
The defense may still require some consideration in the offseason (understatement)

GERG made a great call on the two point conversion. Shellhause(sp) had killed them with the QB draw up the middle on short ydg at the goal line and the inside blitz took away the middle and forced him to make a decesion quickly. Illinois lost as much as Michigan won but smiles all around!

Whhhhhhheeeeeeeeeeeewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww!!!!!!!!!!
November 6th, 2010 at 4:04 PM ^
WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
November 6th, 2010 at 4:01 PM ^
Going to be smiling all week!!!!
November 6th, 2010 at 4:01 PM ^
It's a miracle that we won w/ that turnover margin, but I don't care. We won, I'm ecstatic and we're going to a bowl again.
November 6th, 2010 at 4:01 PM ^
Hold On to the Damn Ball! But, Ill take it! =D
November 6th, 2010 at 4:02 PM ^
I'm sitting here in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia trying to watch the GameCast on ESPN, the internet keeps cutting in and out, and the tracker was just stuck on 67-65... brutal! Finally I decided to just cruise on over here.
Bowl eligible!!! Now I can go to bed happy. Enjoy the rest of your college football viewing day, boys and girls!
November 6th, 2010 at 4:03 PM ^
Could it have been a "coachable" moment for Denard? I've heard hand and head, maybe he said something after the missed FG???
Its great to have Tate backing him up though! 2 very good QBs we have. Denard another 360+ and 3 TDs!!!
GO BLUE!
November 6th, 2010 at 4:03 PM ^
I want to see them drop 80 points on the mustache.
Awesome Win! WE ARE GOING BOWLIIIIIIIIINNNNNNNGGGGGGG!!!!!!
November 6th, 2010 at 4:03 PM ^
Illini had 10 penalties for 83 yards - enough to compensate for our TOs
November 6th, 2010 at 4:13 PM ^
Are you @#$%ing kidding? Look at how short some of their scoring drives were.
Seriously, I'm open to a data-driven response telling me I'm wrong.
November 6th, 2010 at 4:24 PM ^
but all I am saying is that crucial penalties help. Our last regulation time TD would have been 4th and long had it not been the offside penalty for example which led to the eventual TD on the next play. Every bit helps
November 6th, 2010 at 5:19 PM ^
Yeah it helps, but I feel like Lewan's penalties were more crushing than any of Illinois'
November 6th, 2010 at 5:37 PM ^
But being in the stands, it was WAY more fun to rag on Illinois #31 for his THREE, count them, THREE personal foul penalties in the game! If he's not in Zook's doghouse after that debacle then Zook may have gone to the Dantonio School of 2nd 3rd 4th Chances.
November 6th, 2010 at 8:16 PM ^
2 of those came on the play when they pushed Tate out of bounds which gave us a 1st and goal from the 1 as opposed to a 1st and goal from the 5(?).
November 7th, 2010 at 2:21 PM ^
And another came on a meaningless holding penalty on their last real play in regulation.
November 6th, 2010 at 4:04 PM ^
We need to get more takeaways whateva whateva we won. 7-5 is likely 8-4 is possible HURRAH FOR THE YELLOW AND BLUE.
November 6th, 2010 at 4:46 PM ^
Why not? As long as we're talking what's possible.
November 6th, 2010 at 4:52 PM ^
When I get really optimistic I usually end up depressed.
November 6th, 2010 at 4:04 PM ^
If you told me that we would be -4 on turnovers and D Robinson would miss the whole 4th quarter, I would think the final would be something like 59-14 Illinois.
I wouldn't call it a good performance by the defense, but 7 of Illinois' 20 possessions (including the end of regulation) went 3 and out, so that's some progress. Demens at least played well.
At this point, any win is a good win.
November 6th, 2010 at 4:29 PM ^
with TO. They did a much better job considering the defense's performance this season. I would it good(based on a curve) performance for the defense.
November 6th, 2010 at 4:06 PM ^
What a great game to watch. Great effort from our boys to keep fighting!!
November 6th, 2010 at 4:07 PM ^
We really need to get that TO ratio fixed, it is going to be really hard to win games giving away so many balls and taking so few. But whatever, we won and that is ALL that matters today. Great job offense, D thanks for holding the 2nd half despite some horrible field position. Special teams thanks for not allowing a return after our last TD in regulation time. We still need a FG kicker.
November 6th, 2010 at 4:13 PM ^
Rarely do I say this, but this seemed like a well officiated game.
November 6th, 2010 at 4:29 PM ^
And this year, we're going bowling! GO BLUE!
November 6th, 2010 at 8:10 PM ^
RR has said for years here our team is not good enough to play poor (including many TOs) and win. Did that change today? I vote yes. Go Blue!
November 7th, 2010 at 2:22 PM ^
Yeah, but we can't keep doing this to ourselves. I believe our turnover margin in conference play is -11 now. Ugh.
