No names of players announced yet. Please keep it civil. Thoughts with the victim/victims.

[Ed-Ace: Locked the thread. The OP is fine. The sexual assault allegations are not a joking matter, however, and much of what was in the comments crossed that line. That is not rivalry trolling material. This thread also somehow descended into a political thing.]

This is just their knee jerk approach now that they can't lean back on the ELPD to cover for them and the Dr. Larry Nassar heat and pending three to nine millions (or more) dollars owed to complainants.

Spartans Will...face millions of dollars in law suits.

Eight months and 11 days after he was arrested outside a coffee shop and charged with 15 prostitution-related crimes, former Ingham County Prosecuting Attorney Stuart Dunnings III will start serving his year-long jail sentence.

Fifteen seems like a ... lot of prostitution-related crimes.  Along with cover-up activity trying to clear the madame's books, etc.

I thought that office was deeply flawed for a while (esp. the Appling / Payne sordidness, where Appling's police statement basically laid out every element of rape, yet ... no charges!).  This is amazing.  Not in a good way ... .

but as was already posted, a Google search of "Stuart Dunnings III" will unlock a wealth of information about the misdeeds of Dunnings More specifically, though, in regards to the discussion here, Prosecutor Dunnings was alleged to have swept a lot under the rug over his nearly 2 decades in office, in large part due to the distractions of his "addiction" and the closely-related need to cover his own tracks. There was some amount of discussion last spring here on the MGoBoard about Dunnings, too, including a link or two to reports of his direct involvement in dismissing charges involving MSU athletes. Unfortunately, I haven't yet been able to find those specific linked stories. I also tried the MGoBlog search on my phone and haven't been able to find the board discussion but will post a link if/when I do.

Except for the staff member who was suspended. Cover-up? Part of the accused? Did I read correctly that the school tried to silence this until after signing day? In all honestly I hope no one was sexually assaulted/raped. That's the real concern, not that MSU is an absolute trash heap right now.

I think it was NBC College Football Talk that ran a story which said Lukusa left the team because he lost his passion for the game, so definitely unrelated, I would think. That it came out just before all this is really unfortunate timing all the same, and even a player losing interest under a staff has to unnerve a fan.

Somehow I think that these clowns somehow get off and are back on the team with a minor penalty - say a suspension of their annual game against the Little Sisters of the Poor.  Hell, they are even likely to be made team captains.

Michigan State Prison and all that...

I may not like Dantonio as a guy and think he's a bit crusty, but he's a good coach, and that's good for the conference and it's good for UM to play and beat a good team.

Dantonio's days of beating RR & Hoke are over.  We don't have to worry about that anymore. Once we've gotten by that, then it's better for MSU to be good for the conference, to give OSU good games, and for UM when they beat them.

For me, it's because he has a history of heavily recruiting guys with questionable character, and then taking minimal to no action when players commit crimes.  Not to mention the general thuggery that their players seem to employ against us, with if not actively encouraged by Dantonio is pretty clearly not discouraged.  He's a good coach (we think), but he doesn't seem like a particularly good person and, based on his recruiting and his approach to off-field behavior, doesn't seem to have a particularly good moral compass.  Now, the fact that MSU may hire some talentless schlub to replace wouldn't necessarily make me sad, but it's more the "you reap what you sow" aspect that makes me pretty happy with the idea of him getting canned.

I don't know what to think about this.

Looking past it being MSU, I think the ideal situation here (ideal being relative, I can't think of a better word) is that MSU is being very proactive and that the alleged assualt is more of the Grant Perry type than Baylor.

That being said, the fact that a staff member is involved is concerning. Specifically this quote:

"Separate from the criminal and Title IX investigations, the university administration is retaining an external law firm to conduct a thorough and independent investigation into football program staff members’ compliance with university policy in connection with the allegations."

It could end up being nothing, but bringing in an external law firm brings up PSU and Baylor thoughts. This could potentially have far reaching effects into MSU's program.

If they have hired a law firm then their function will be to whitewash the incident and absolve coaches and administrators of all responsibility. No way are they going to throw their employers under the bus.

The Freeh Report?  Written by a law firm (Freeh, Sporkin & Sullivan) based on a law firm investigation.  Deservedly threw JoePa, PSU in general, and others under the bus.

The Baylor Report?  Written by Pepper Hamilton, a respected law firm.  Deservedly threw Briles, Ken Starr, and Baylor in general under the bus.

The approach of the university in hiring an outside firm to do the investigation is precisely to obtain an objective review.  It is the best thing for the process, and the best thing for those members of the administration hiring the firm.  The office of legal counsel, at least, can say that they did the right thing to really get to the bottom of things.  It allows the administration outside of the football program to wash their hands of accusations of being complicit in the wrongdoing.  While it's not nefarious (in fact, it's the right thing to do), it's also in the self-interest of those hiring the outside firm.

Furthermore, if the firm acts as a hired gun, the report will be disregarded and the reputation of the firm severely damaged.  All for an engagement that does not pay that much. (Not that the fee for an engagement should influence the results, but it becomes especially untenable that a respected firm is acting like a hired gun for a six figure retainer.)

This is just awful stuff.  Curious to see how the facts come out (i.e., whether they reflect poorly on MSU or just the players involved, how strong the bases for the claims are, etc).

But given that a staff member is implicated, it sure leaves open the possibility of institutional involvement.

Apparently more, I posted in another thread that recently a fight occured at an apartment. Football players stole some kids wallet and beat him to the brink of death.. Some rumors have said LJ Scott was involved and he is no longer listed on msus student directory. Also a student said Scott has not been in class
