2022 Michigan Football team - trading cards
This is hitting the wire today - a good opportunity for everyday fans to help out with the NIL program and get some cool collectibles to boot.
That Cade McNamara card looks pretty sweet.
If anyone gets it and JJ McCarthy, I'd be willing to make a trade. I just found a card of some old dude, Honus Wagner, in my basement. Never heard of him, but it's pretty old (1909) and might be worth some money.
Stick the Honus Wagner card between the spokes of your bike.
It’s a shame no one names their kid Honus anymore.
I have a shoebox full of baseball and a shoebox full of football cards from the late 60s and 70s. I thought my Mom had thrown them out but I found them recently after and extensive search of her home.
There are some seriously great old cards..Hank Aaron, Pete Rose, Boog Powell, Nolan Ryan, Johnny Bench, Willie Stargell, Rod Carew and one of my personal favorites in football Lem Barney among the many classics.
I'm sure some people will enjoy these, but I wish I could just throw 20 bucks into a pool for the players and not get the cardboard shipped to me. Is that possible?
You could get it shipped as a gift to any kids that you might know are Michigan fans. I am sure they would appreciate it.
If you don't know any kids that fit the description, perhaps have it sent to MOTT's hospital or perhaps an Ann Arbor based children's charity. They will put them to good use.
Or you could just send them to me. Although Blue in Paradise's idea is probably better or more selfless or something
Buy one of the Valiant NFT's instead or that other small time collective that posts on here. There's tons of ways to get involved with NIL these days. Some of it hasn't been well advertised though.
I bought the Valiant NFTs and they sent me plenty of cardboard around the beautiful autographed 8x10s that come with. So even when. Can’t escape the cardboard.
Do they come with a stick of gum? Deal breaker for me if not.
Free card in every pack of Big League Chew
Fun Fact. Jim Bouton helped invent Big League Chew. He wrote one of the best sports books "Ball Four."
there ya go. everyone bitching about michigan's nil can put their money where there mouths are and actually help instead of anonymously bitching on the interwebz
So i am willing to buy some packs of this - but have questions (maybe someone on here can answer?)
What is the print run - how many cards of each player are they making?
How many autographs of each player? What are the odds of getting an auto?
Is it the entire team plus walkons? How many cards total?
No clue on any of those questions but I wouldn't look at this as an investment.
If they somehow go up in value in 30 years, then consider it a bonus.
Yeah, I just started getting back into the card hobby (barely). Cards are virtually worthless these days unless their are numbered, and even then, only runs of 10 or less get any real value. College cards even less.
What I'm trying to say is these cards are fun for fans, but even if JJ becomes the next Tom Brady you won't break even on these.
Autographed cards are worth money.
Not really. Here is a Woodson card for $15 and he is a GOAT:

Unless the card is numbered, really the autos can often times be surprisingly affordable.
Chad henne for $10:

I’m going to assume my trading card luck hasn’t changed since I was a kid and I’m destined to get a bunch of fifth string long snappers and the occasional third sting punter . . .
I bought 10 packs. I'll keep some and give a few away as gifts this fall. I'd love to know if all players are in it or only some of them.
I was a huge sports card collector in the '80s and '90s, as much I could on my allowance and bottle collecting money. I recently started buying cards again.
What I collect now:
Michigan FB and BB autographed rookie cards once they reach the bigs.
Tigers' Rookie Cards. I have Tork, Greene, Dingler, Jobe, and Madden. Will get Jung and Graham soon enough.
Here's a cool tale about one of the most saught after sports cards of all time.
Just bought 3 packs. Doing my part for NIL.
