2022 ATH Ja'Kobi Albert names M to top 3
Fairfield (AL) Fairfield Prep athlete Ja'Kobi Albert named Michigan to his top three, which also includes Auburn and Maryland. Interestingly, a Maryland 247 guy already put in a crystal ball for Michigan. Albert took an official to Michigan in late June, and the primary competition seems to be Auburn, even though several people thought he was going to Kentucky.
I like the kid, and he could play anywhere, from WR to CB to S to PR/KR. He's a 3-star, the #27 athlete, and #368 overall, which is just outside of 4-star territory.
His film reminds me of Xavier Worthy. Everyone around him looks like they are wearing leg weights.
Bubble screen, touchdown, repeat.
I didn't know you had posted this. I linked it below.
Kids got jets and isn't afraid to get his nose dirty on defense....i like
Ja’Kobi, Ja’Kobi, Ja’Kobi
The recruit who’s hard to get
Ja’Kobi, Ja’Kobi, Ja’Kobi
But you can sign him yet
What you don’t like bizzare riffs on the deep cuts from the hit 1962 musical The Music Man? This is a sports blog after all…
Which is worse? The fact that you know that, or the fact that I don't.
Definitely the former
I thought it was just a Family Guy reference...
This board is probably more familiar with this version. It's even Michigan relevant because of Tom Brady!
He is a very fluid athlete at 5’11” 175. And he likes to hit on D.
He's not leaving the south. Auburn it is unless other prestigious SEC offers come in.
We have like a 1 in 50? hit rate on good to elite prospects from the south with SEC offers.
Glad we made the cut and we should keep trying - seems like we are making in-roads into Tennessee now, but the deep south has been tough sledding for us.
Is South Carolina and Florida considered the deep south? I'm not very good at geography.
Alabama, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi and South Carolina are traditionally the “deep south.” A few bordering states sometimes have regions lumped in there too. Eastern Texas and northern Florida mostly.
Ah, Florida. The further north you go, the further south you get.
I think what saves central and southern Florida from “deep south culture” is being a hotbed for snowbirds and Hispanic immigrants. Cancels out the hillbilly
I'm originally from the U.P. Ann Arbor IS the deep south. The L.P. is a foreign country, all you trolls and such.
You are our state’s own personal Canada.
"You're all southerners south of the wall."
elite prospects
Is a 3-star who's #368 really considered an "elite prospect?" We're not talking Walter Nolen territory here.
I like this guy a lot! He is fast. He has hands. And he's a great open field tackler. Like Magnus says, I don't know where Michigan would use him. In the slot? At safety?
He's fun to watch. He has that last gear, the pull away in the open field.

Michigan supposedly told him they'll let him play whatever position he wants.
Can he play like a conference winning QB?
He will probably end up playing against one.
Yeesh tough crowd.
Why didn't we tell this to Justice Finkley
If the story on Finkley is what I heard on WTKA I think the staff was trying to be honest with him to avoid the inevitable year two transfer when he realizes he can’t play the position he wants to play
I would think this would be respected by kids and their parents. An honest evaluation of where the coaches view your skill sets and where you fit in the program.
The kids don’t have to doubt the plan.
Depends on whether or not they can recognize the “honesty.” Who is to say another school is lying to him when they say they’ll let him play an edge spot? Even if they are lying, who is to say he and his family recognize they’re being lied to?
To them, this could just be Michigan not wanting to play him at his preferred position. Kinda like Michigan wanting AJ Dillon to play linebacker when he wanted to be a RB, so he goes to BC and plays very well and ends up in the NFL.
I hear we need nose tackles.
Where do you think he'd help Michigan the most?
He looks pretty quick and fast.
Let's bag him.
