This. I was thinking the same thing when I first saw this picture. If the photo was of two M players, I think many would be, at the least, disappointed and it may be getting more attention. However, because it is two MSU guys, it is actually meaningless, as if that type of behavior is to be expected out of them.

We can agree to disagree here, but in my mind there are 2 distinctions:
- is that they're using a profanity and aiming it at a certain rival coach, and
- they both represent the athletic department as opposed to being just undergraduate kids at staee. Imagine if Eli Brooks held up a "Fuck Tucker" sign.

Totally agree, they are being paid a full ride and likely contracts for additional income through the university. They are functionally employees, maybe soon to be declared employees (see what tax season brings us), and as such represent Staee in a far more intimate way than a typical student.

Do you guys remember 2010 UM/MSU? It was at the Big House and it was a gorgeous day. I'm talking 80+ degrees in mid October, beautiful sun, etc. etc. Both teams were undefeated and it was hyped as a huge game (which it was) but deep down, all of us UM fans sort of knew if Denard couldn't just make freaky magic happen (which he did many times) this msu team was going to be too much. They were a highly aggressive team and from the start it just didn't really feel like UM had a shot. I think it was a bit of a "holly crap" wake up call moment for UM.
I hope this msu/UM game goes the same way in reverse. When I look at this not perfect, yet highly aggressive team I truly could see that happening. This UM team will be ready.

I remember Desmond saying something similar in an interview a few years back. He described a few encounters he had with OSU fans when he was younger or in his college days where they told him to go fuck himself. He just smiled and said “Thanks!” because that meant he knew he was doing something right in the rivalry.

All these words about MSU talking shit don't make any sense to me. Unless I missed something, the MSU footballers aren't saying anything. This sign was held up and publicized by two basketball players. So, for the purposes of the football game, they are just two random MSU students. Until the football team opens it's mouth, all talk is useless fan speak.
