         As is Tradition

Forgive the tardiness, off grid for a couple days, and the news from last night destroyed my outline.

Sherrone Moore really wants that 3rd straight Joe Moore award.

In the week after the Penn State a very focal part of the fanbase harped the opinion that Michigan can’t beat OSU by running the ball 32 times in a row.

“Moore isn’t ready for play calling.”
“Can’t win with the 1 dimension”
“They don’t trust JJ”

I don’t know if these people are bots, concern trolls,  Uber trolls or just have the memory of goldfish stricken with amnesia.

Moore has been calling the plays all year and been emphasizing the pass over the run.
We literally beat OSU 2 years ago with 4 passes in the 2nd half.
JJ passed for 325+ yards the week before.

Some fans would rather lose 45-42 and look cool doing it, than win 24-15.  Call it the Deion vs Ferentz  Sophie’s choice.

Taps the sign…

Penn State was going to end JJ’s Heisman campaign one way or another.  In the first two series, PSU got a thunder sack and almost two more.  One of those was McCarthey throwing the ball dangerously with a guy hanging off them (His one incompletion).

Coupled with a defense that was not going to allow Penn State to score without some turnovers.   Michigan adjusted to try to take advantage of the aggressiveness of the PSU Defense and were successful.  In most games a defense would adjust and dial back the aggressiveness and there would be a cat and mouse game of adjusting and readjusting.  Which Penn State politely declined.

Orange Crush

Harbor side Bar and Grill in Ocean side Maryland “invented” this drink in 1995.  Invented being a strong word for taking a screwdriver, changing the vodka to orange vodka, adding triple sec (hey that’s orange flavored) and adding sprite.

An Orange crush is as Maryland as crab cakes and September Football.  But it uses fresh oranges, and after checking my notes, those are not grown in Maryland.

However, they are Maryland’s 2nd most popular drink and sitting with one on a hot day overlooking a harbor seems like a nice time.    It’s a noon game,  its brunch adjacent, weather looks wonderful

I’d like to give one person an orange right about now.

Ingredients

2 oz orange vodka
2 oz triple sec
juice of 1-2 oranges
splash sprite
crushed ice

I like to make drinks in a shaker, but u can stir this one in the glass.  Pour the first 3 ingredients into a cocktail shaker and stir.  Pour over crushed ice.  Top with the sprite.  Garnish with another orange wedge.

This juice press is on amazon, and its great.  Always use the amazon link on MgoBlog when buying there.

Enjoy the Noon game with one of these.  Despite my smarminess, it is pretty  good.

As a MD resident, can confirm. It's especially prevalent "by the oh-shun" or "or on the bay" or "out on the shore". The variant I like to use is with grapefruit instead of crushed orange. The ladies like to replace Sprite with club soda and I have to admit, that can take the sweetness level down multiple notches.

But, yeah, Crushes at The Starboard are a thing (even though Dewey is in Delaware, most Marylanders claim it as their own.)
