Game Day Weather

Woohoo! We have a perfect Fall football Saturday this week! Finally haha. After some gloomy and rainy days we deserve it! If you're back for the game, welcome home :) The weather looks pretty good for the flyover! High pressure to the north will keep us dry for the game with a lighter breeze. Temps will be a tad below normal but nothing a warm hoodie or jacket can't fix! If you're planning on staying out later, rain chances do enter the forecast, so you might want the umbrella. Let's get that maize and blue going and get that W over Iowa!

Tailgating

This is what crockpot tailgates are made of! Chiiiillleeee start to the day with patchy frost on the ground in some areas! Maybe have a cup of hot coffee at home and take a thermos of joe to go too! Early morning temperatures will be in the lower 40s with some cloud cover. Winds will generally be out of the ESE at 5-10mph (enough to rustle the leaves). Luckily the sun comes up shortly after 7:30am and we'll start to warm up fairly quickly. Some sun, some clouds to round out the mid-morning with temps edging into the low 50s. By the time you're packing up and ready to walk in, we'll be into the mid 50s with a little brightness with those clouds!

Kickoff

Winds will shift to the ESE at around 10mph (leaves are in constant motion) adding just a bit of an extra chill to the air. By the start of the game, we'll be in the upper 50s - not too bad for an early October noon game! Sky coverage looks to be a mix of sun and clouds, which will still get UV levels up to around a 4/10, so you might want to bring the hat if you're sensitive to the sun.

Halftime

A couple degrees warmer as we head for the break! I feel like this is one of those days where you don't know if you want the hot chocolate (hello warmth) or a soda (lots of cheering happening here). Take your pic, but also try to catch some of the marching band! The halftime show Saturday is celebrating milestones in American culture. Winds will be out of the SE by the half, steady at around 10mph. You'll start to notice more and more clouds moving in during the later part of the game.

Post-Game

Near 60 as you're heading through those gates! If you're walking back to the tailgate to finish up those brats and brewskis - hey no shame, it makes the cooler lighter and easier to put away when you get home - we'll be mainly cloudy with comfy temps and that lighter breeze into the early evening. Taking a break and grabbing dinner downtown later? Have that warmer jacket you wore in the morning, and this is when you might want to consider grabbing the umbrella out of the car! We'll have temps falling into the mid 50s by 7pm, then low 50s by the late-night with cloudy skies. Scattered showers start in the later evening hours, and hang around overnight into the beginning of Sunday. We won't be quite as cold as Friday night - lows stay in the lower 50s with winds shifting to the S and SW at 5-10mph. We'll have warmer temperatures and more sun to end the day Sunday, so it doesn't look bad for those traveling to get to the game/parents weekend. :D  Let's go blue!!!

I realize the "What is 'soda'" comment is not serious ... but maps with colors are!

Picture showing where "pop" (yellow) is used vs. "soda" (blue) is used.  Purple is where "coke" becomes a generic name.

Right now I'm in West Virginia.  It's mostly "pop" here.  Rarely "soda."  Occasionally "coke" in reference to any cola drink.  Out in Arizona I never hear "pop," unless I'm talking to a transplant.

I grew up in Michigan.  For me it's "pop."
