Game Day Weather

How does the number one thousand sound?! 1,000. One triple zero. A grand. Kilo. Ten hundos. lol you get it :D Here's to hoping our team hits 1,000 wins as they take on Maryland! The cold front that dropped our temps and gave us some wind and rain is also moving through Maryland. Luckily rain chances look to be mainly Friday and overnight, and although it'll be breezy, skies will clear out. Temperatures won't change a whole lot throughout the day so you should be good to go for tailgating and the game without a ton of extra layers, but grab the jacket if you'll be out late afterward. Let's go blue!

If you're traveling to College Park...

Tailgating

A noon start means you've gotta be the early bird for tailgating! Luckily it'll be very mild - this time of year we should be starting the day near 40, and it'll be much closer to 50. We'll see low 50s throughout the morning and leading up to game time. Since you're further east the sun will be up earlier than here, rising at 6:53am. Plenty of time to have some chicken and waffles with that large thermos of coffee before the game! Don't worry, no one is judging you that it isn't * just * coffee in that thermos. Especially if you're traveling for the game and then again in a few days for the holiday! We'll see scattered showers overnight Friday and although a few lingering showers are possible into early Saturday morning, it's a small chance. If you see any rain it looks to completely end by mid-morning, for the most part it looks to be just some extra morning clouds. It should make for a pretty sunrise :) Skies will clear out for your tailgate time. Winds will be lighter early in the morning but pick up quickly, so if you arrive to the tailgate and are debating putting the tent stakes in, just do it! Winds will be out of the NW at 10-15mph (enough to blow the leaves around, move some small branches) with increasing gusts. Early on gusts will be around 20mph, enough to sway small trees, but by mid-morning they'll be up to near 30mph - you might hear the wind whistling every now and then. Winds will stay up heading into the game, so make sure to secure anything light at your tailgate before walking away.

Kickoff

Near 55 for the start of the game! It will still be a little windy with NW winds steady around 15-17mph with gusts to about 30mph. Gusts like that can make it tough to use an umbrella, so it's fantastic we won't have to worry about that! We'll have beautiful sunny skies so hopefully you grabbed your sunglasses leaving the tailgate!

Halftime

Not much change for your halftime break. Temps will be remaining in the mid 50s with our NW wind still on the breezy side. We'll continue to sit under the blue skies through the second half of the game. We may not be seeing the 70s they just had in Maryland, but hey, we don't have to talk about a wind chill, or even wear the winter coat, so safe to say we can't complain!

Post-Game

Winds will begin to die down slightly as we finish winning the game, out of the NW near 15mph, gusting into the mid 20s. If you're going out on the town for dinner, reminder that the sun came up earlier and it'll set earlier, too - setting before 5pm here in Maryland. We'll totally lose the wind gusts toward dinner time with a steady wind remaining around 15mph. Skies will stay nice and clear, helping temperatures to drop. It won't be as mild as it was in the morning! We'll fall to the low 40s by the late-night hours, then dip to the 30s by last call with a light breeze. If you're thinking about celebrating the win count by dropping a grand at the bar, that's real kind of you to get everyone drinks! Just remember to save some money for that 8 hour drive home Sunday to A2, or else you're adding an hour by avoiding the tolls lol! Weather will be nice if you're making the drive, not as windy with dry conditions.

If you're staying in Ann Arbor...

Pretty nice here at home! It'll be a cold start to the day with overnight lows in the 20s. Highs will be near 50 with a WSW wind at 5-15mph. Gusts are possible into the mid 20s during the afternoon. We're looking at plenty of sun for our Saturday! Dry weather carries into Sunday which makes for better travel. Let's go guys, give those terrapins a loss! No matter how you say it, 1,000 is an awesome number :) Go blue!!

I'll be there.  Looking forward to the nice football weather.  I've been at Maryland through the edge of a hurricane and when it was a bitter cold night game.  I like this forecast better.
