"Hello Kicker Matt Goudis?"
according to scout.com Matt Goudis flipped from Boise State to us and is now listed as a commit...Rivals however has not broken any such news....
Any further confirmation? Didnt see anything on the board.

You should actually leave this post up. Your original title was a lot more informative.

any neg bang is on you...but heres to lets hoping our kicking whoas are over.
December 24th, 2010 at 1:57 AM ^
Haha, I doubt there will be any negbanging on a hello post. Especially for such an extreme position of need. Here's some video.

but my click was wide-right :(

Your first Christmas present is a kicker. Good morning, and K Matt Goudis has switched his commitment from Boise State to Michigan.
December 24th, 2010 at 7:15 AM ^
Love the 57 yarder at the end!!!
December 24th, 2010 at 9:09 AM ^
wow, you know his coach has confidence in him when he gave him 4 kicks outside the 50 his junior year. I can't say I had that type of confidence with extra points this year. Some of those kicks look like absolute bombs. I love we are finding the final pieces to the puzzle. Our time is coming!!!
December 24th, 2010 at 12:03 PM ^
Compact leg swing and nice high launch angles. Not going to see many kicks blocked. Plenty of leg to get it into a d1 end zone too.
<br>
<br>Those fake punt runs aren't going to work in the B1G though :) but he looks like a man among boys in his highlight reel.
December 24th, 2010 at 2:45 AM ^
Welcome Matt and Go Blue!
December 24th, 2010 at 2:11 AM ^
He's for real...Goudis switched his commitment from Boise to M....it broke late tonight so that's pry why rivals doesnt have it up yet.

But my favorite part from Scout-
<br>
<br>"He is the top field goal kicker in the nation in the Class of 2011".
December 24th, 2010 at 8:55 AM ^
man I hate rivals
December 24th, 2010 at 10:19 AM ^
to see if Goudis can kick FG off the ground. Michigan had the top K in the nation in the past(Wright and Gibbons) yet they can't kick a FG to save their life.
December 24th, 2010 at 11:01 AM ^
His highlight video shows him kicking off the ground at the end from 30-40-50 and 57 yards... obviously we don't see any misses in between the good kicks, but the ones that were good were pretty much amazing
December 24th, 2010 at 2:25 AM ^
this true?i am drunk right now.He said that he wouldn't switch to us unless the coaching job was sucure
December 24th, 2010 at 2:27 AM ^
I mean, why on earth would it matter to the kicker who the coach is?
December 24th, 2010 at 2:31 AM ^
He wouldn't want to have to go from being a spread kicker to a pro-style kicker. The change is terrible
December 24th, 2010 at 2:34 AM ^
Everyone knows spread kicking can't work in the Big Ten.
December 24th, 2010 at 10:10 AM ^
He looks SMALL, too. No surprise, since RichRod has recruited only SMALL players. If we only had a PRO-STYLE coach here like Hoke, we'd have BIG players. Woe is us.
December 24th, 2010 at 9:15 AM ^
After watching his highlights I almost believe he wanted to play in the spread. Fastest person I've ever seen run the fake funt.
December 24th, 2010 at 2:33 AM ^
just hope RICH ROD comes back thats all.GO BLUE!!!
December 24th, 2010 at 7:13 AM ^
I'd think it matters to every kid who the coach is. They have to listen to the guy almost every day for what , 6 months out of the year for 4,5 years?
December 24th, 2010 at 9:22 AM ^
How about because he's a member of the team. Kickers can develop a relationship with a coach the same way any other player can. I would've thought this year had taught us that we need to take the kicking position seriously and can't take an attitude like this towards it
December 24th, 2010 at 2:38 AM ^
If true, welcome to the family!! Go Blue!!
December 24th, 2010 at 2:38 AM ^
to be a Wolverine.....OSU in trouble and we finally have a verbal committment from a solid Kicker. Wow. Go Blue!!
December 24th, 2010 at 8:17 AM ^
Unfortunately, Gibbons hasn't panned out. This may be one of the hardest positions to project as they can longer use the block they use in HS. I hope everything works out for Matt and he makes them when he gets a chance. Though I would always prefer 7 over 3. Go Blue!

3 days? Come on man I'm on day 8 here.
December 24th, 2010 at 2:45 AM ^
Looks like it very true per his facebook status
"taking my talents to Ann Arbor...thats michigan folks!"
looks like we have our kicker.
December 24th, 2010 at 2:49 AM ^
Facebook stalking?
+1 to you sir. lol
December 24th, 2010 at 3:03 AM ^
lol i typed his name into facebook and I didnt have to add him you could see his status and thats what I saw so I sent it back to you guys lol.
December 24th, 2010 at 4:41 AM ^
Odd. I tried to verify you, but as a facebook police officer I looked him up and his facebook profile is private. His wall is not available for the mgopublic. Sir, you lied.
December 24th, 2010 at 8:12 AM ^
I did not lie I typed his name in again and I came up with the same result as you, I have no idea how this fluke has happened but maybe the Michigan God's wanted us to see the truth. Very strange though. So I just added him and he accpeted within seconds lol. And added me to his list of nearly 1300 friends.
December 24th, 2010 at 11:22 AM ^
I daresay you lied, but it's okay. We're in the same boat because I was so frustrated that his account was set to private that I went ahead and sent him a friend request. I plan on being in that nearly 1300.
It's okay, I go to a therapist for Facebook stalking. I'm covered. By a doctor.
December 24th, 2010 at 8:58 AM ^
He probably just has rights sets to allow view by certain networks... who knows, maybe they are both from the same city/state or something like that...
I am just glad we got an awesome kicker
December 24th, 2010 at 2:50 AM ^
I still feel we need at least two more in this class. Yes, this year was THAT bad.

So does this mean that Tate isn't the number two punter anymore?
December 24th, 2010 at 9:04 AM ^
Something was very wrong with his leg, possibly a break. It's just not natural to short-shank everything.
December 24th, 2010 at 9:20 AM ^
December 24th, 2010 at 3:00 AM ^
What happens to Gibbons? Wouldn't want to see them yank a scholarship from him, but I'm not sure if there's a precedent for that with kickers and whatnot that I'm unaware of. Feel free to enlighten.
December 24th, 2010 at 7:10 AM ^
Well hopefully he can get his stuff together and start making kicks when they count. Coaches have repeatedly stated he does fine in practice but it hasn't translated to games.
December 24th, 2010 at 10:13 AM ^
He might have a future on special teams:
December 24th, 2010 at 3:03 AM ^
This is the first time I've jumped on MGoBlog at 3am and actually learned something new instead of just putting off sleep! His film looks awesome. Smooth, consistent, and there are touchbacks. Not sure what that motion the refs keep making after he kicks fieldgoals is though. It's like they're trying to raise the roof, but lack the energy to continue making the motion after their arms are all the way up. I've never seen it before.
Merry Christmas Eve everyone!

Chris Sailer has a really comprehensive website for kicking prospects. Here's his write up on Goudis:
Matt is simply an outstanding all around kicker. He has a huge leg, makes FG's with ease off the ground, and kickoffs with the best of them. Mentally he is very strong showing great maturity to kick at the next level. Can also punt. Has all the tools to dominate the D1 level.
The site ranks him number 2 in the class and has a lot more information.
December 24th, 2010 at 8:04 AM ^
The cool thing about his "resume" is he has been kicking in competitions since his HS freshman year and winning a ton of them. Looks like the kid has been kicking under pressure and executing for years.....
