TomVH: Quick Chris Bryant Update
Chicago OL Chris Bryant is coming in for an official visit this weekend with his parents. He does not have any other visits planned after this, but he could schedule a few if he decides he needs to.
Michigan is in good position with Chris, but he does have some concerns about the coaching situation. He plans on asking about those concerns this weekend. I don't expect him to make a decision this weekend, but it's not out of the question. I don't think he really knows what he wants to do at this point until some things are cleared up. This visit will be for him to see more of the social life and how he interacts with the players.

No Situation...EVER!

I hate to say it, but I feel like any verbal commit at this point is just conjecture, until the coaching situation is decided. Any verbal now has to be taken with a grain of salt.
Great work, though, Tom.

I'll personal take any verbal now the same way I would any other verbal at any other time. I mean if a recurit commits he knows the situation here and I don't see a reason why he would then turn around a de-commit.
Now, if Rodriguez is let go, than I'll take ANY verbal on the board with a grain of salt until they sign on the dotted line.

That is true, to a point, but at the same time I would think the coaches are talking to these kids and trying to give them assurances on their status. They may not know their status, so they have to convey a feeling of business as usual and progress forward as if they will be here in the coming season. So, it's a hard situation for both parties, and some kids might be convinved only to see a different outcome.
"Potential" lame duck recruiting is so complicated. Blah.

Lets all be honest . . . There aren't many things better than TomVH's posts. And the fact that we get them free of charge is outstanding. I am forever grateful, Mr. VH.
December 6th, 2010 at 3:11 PM ^
I think you, sir, need to head to Beveled Guilt to further appreciate Mr. VH.

You know, I'm embarassed to admit that after all these years I've never noticed that donation link. Off to contributing I go, off to contributing I go, high-ho, the darry-o, off to contributing I go.

Pos banged so hard from me.

I just "PayPal-ed" $20 to Brian. If I find out that he blows all that scratch on beer and pizza I'll be pissed? Nope, that's how I'd spend it if I were him so I'm hoping that's where it goes! Happy Holidays!

Michigan is Ivy League... as we all know: Harvard is the Michigan of the East

Saw you sitting at 1999 and had to give you #2000 for the MGoMilestone.
December 6th, 2010 at 3:18 PM ^
But I fixed that for you. We should never let TomVH go unappreciated, his work changes lives. CHANGES LIVES, I TELL YA! As in, I don't have to spend $10 a month or whatever to be a rivals member because of him. Thanks TVH!

Chris would be a huge commitment. Top 5 on our board for sure. Let's hope Brandon can clarify any questions or concerns with Chris.
December 6th, 2010 at 3:08 PM ^
to clarify much with this past week's visitors.
December 6th, 2010 at 3:08 PM ^
Chris,
Good, aggressive, hard-working offensive linemen will be successful in any program under any coach. It's the helmet, education, tradition, and name recognition that make the difference.
Just ask Steve Schilling and David Molk when you are on campus this weekend....

330...and M only recruits small players....
December 6th, 2010 at 3:18 PM ^
Taylor "6' 8'' 300 lbs" Lewan agrees with your statement.
December 6th, 2010 at 3:22 PM ^
Ah but does he hate donkeys as much as Lewan does? Even if not, Lewan can teach him the ways of punishing donkeys on Saturday afternoons.
December 6th, 2010 at 4:06 PM ^
He was only 6' 6" and 270 out of high school
December 6th, 2010 at 3:09 PM ^
Chris would be a great addition to the current class
December 6th, 2010 at 3:11 PM ^
I will say this: if we can pull a great recruiting class (whether RR is fired or not) even through all of this controversy and uncertainty because of how DB is able to talk recruits through the situation, he will grow to ultra-legendary status. Word was that he has been talking to the guys that come in on visits and it will be very telling to see what happens with them, IME.
December 6th, 2010 at 3:14 PM ^
it sounds like all he said was "Michigan is an awesome school" and didn't say anything specific about the coaching situation.
If we pull in an awesome recruiting class, I think it should be chalked up to the job that Rich Rod and his staff have done getting guys like Lyons interested in the program. I know there were complaints last year that the staff wasn't hitting the trail that hard, but recruits seem to be raving about the staff this year.
December 6th, 2010 at 6:16 PM ^
A great recruiting class looks unlikely being we are #28 according to Rivals. A late surge might get us in the top 20.
December 8th, 2010 at 11:00 AM ^
Once we get people to start committing, we'll hit top 20 for sure. Throw in the fact that we could essentially replace a 3* in Conway with a 4* in Lucien and that we're still in play with a number of 4*'s (Zettel, Frost, Countess, Lyons, Walls, Taylor, etc.), it will be a question if we're getting in the top 10.

not very optimistic on bryant as i am on some of the other prospects..
would be great to land him though
December 6th, 2010 at 3:44 PM ^
Optimistic with what?
December 6th, 2010 at 4:29 PM ^
Do you know if M is showing interest in Simeon's QB, Robert Gregory?
December 6th, 2010 at 4:30 PM ^
Yes, they are. He's one of the quarterback prospects we should have a decent shot with.
December 6th, 2010 at 4:41 PM ^
He seems to fit RR's offense well, and the depth chart will look pretty good for him by 2012. Keep up the good work.
December 6th, 2010 at 3:28 PM ^
As always, much appreciated! Can't wait to hear how this weekend goes.
December 6th, 2010 at 3:34 PM ^
While I get bored with all the stats and charts (as fantastic as they may be) I never get tired of Tom's posts. You are great at what you do and we all really appreciate it. Thanks!
December 6th, 2010 at 3:40 PM ^
He can wait, and be reassured by signing day, isn't that right?
December 6th, 2010 at 4:47 PM ^
Chris Bryant will surely ask DB about RR. Does he just say "sorry son your going to have to wait until January." ? It really is too bad that DB didn't just say RR is my coach for next year if that is ultimately what his decision will be. Then we can concentrate on winning the bowl game and landing a top recruiting class.
December 6th, 2010 at 5:26 PM ^
This kid is an absolute monster and a top priority for us. Unfotunately DB is not helping matters any.
