ESPN's Myron Medcalf a Perfect 0-4 in Reseeding Sweet 16
A few days ago there was a discussion of Myron Medcalf's ESPN article where he reseeded the Sweet 16 and had Michigan ranked number 15. His four worst ranked teams all won their games yesterday. Here are his rankings:
- Villanova
- Duke
- Clemson
- West Virginia
- Kentucky
- Nevada
- Texas A&M
- Texas Tech
- Purdue
- Kansas
- Syracuse
- Gonzaga
- FSU
- Loyola-Chicago
- Michigan
- KSU
He's a perfect 0-4 so far in his seedings: the teams he ranked 13-16 all won their games.

Well, he didn't rank Duke #1, so ESPN would have issue right away. Dickie V. would be positively apoplectic.
Kansas and Purdue are winning tonight as well. So that would 6 of the bottom 8. A real idiot this Myron guy
At ESPN, you don't have to be right, only entertaining.
That's why it's the Entertainment and Sports Programming Network and not the Accurate Sports Programming Network.

There is accountability in that they will now give him 2-3 more articles to double-down on these rankings before doing it all over again for the final four with even more fanfare. It's about entertainment and attention rather than knowledge. If people are talking about something because its wrong then at least they are talking about it! More wrong == MOAR TALKY. It's basically how Stephan A Smith, Skip Bayless, Mel Kiper Jr., etc not only have jobs but are championed and given their own segments and shows.
but I don't know as I can't get past his seeming inability to pick Michigan. He is funny though.
turrible.
This is exactly why you don't base rankings off of 2 games.
Reading his takes on college basketball is about as entertaining as those American Idol episodes with the hilariously bad singers who think they have talent.
I know- reading that article is like:

It's almost as if picking two games out of an 11 game sample is dumb.

I mean, I'm all in for trashing ESPN's professional idiots but punditry is synonymous with idiocy across the board. Look at how often financial experts are right about the stock market. O, or political pundits are right about anything in D.C.
